and I really haven't noticed any difference yet at all. No changes in bowels (const is a big problem for me). How long till I should start to at least notice something?

It took me 2-3 weeks to notice a difference on theralac.
I also run contp. & it's better now & less gas. I take one a day & mix it up with my other pro-biotics.
I also started drinking alot of distilled water with baking soda in it.
But I really think the theralac is keeping me from getting less yeast infections.

For constipation, I suggest you look into the senna tea that you can purchase at iherb.com. It is really gentle and does the job. I just drink a couple of cups at night when needed, and it works great.
welll, me too. been 3 or so days on therelac, and i don't notice much... but then, i'm in liver / gallbladder herx hell right now, so maybe i wouldn't notice it.

for my daughter she had consipation relief right away. I am taking them also and have not noticed any changes but I did not have a bowel problem previous.
I am just taking them to counteract the abx.

Nal, I don't see how Therelac would help with gastritis, or with yeast, that you already have. I mean, it is certainly part of healing but is not sufficient by itself. It can be a good preventative too, but your gut is already in trouble.
It is probably going to take you a year to heal, but you could feel better very quickly with certain other "alternative" methods.
I won't repeat my suggestions, which come from the integrative doctor treating my daughter.

It fixed my chronic diarrhea in about a week. (My problem was opposite everyone else's!)
I also had persistent brown furry tongue. YUCK! Even using Nystatin and brushing my tongue and scraping was to no avail. After a week of Theralac, it went away completely and has never come back.
Hope it kicks in soon for you, Nance. (AND Bb!)

I just got my Theralac in the mail yesterday. One thing I noticed. It contains "lactoferrin" which binds iron. Now, I take iron for I am iron deficient, so I probably won't be able to use Theralac much, if at all. But, I thought I'd post this to make others aware that if you need iron, Theralac may not be for you. (I might call the company tomorrow to check on this...)

Timaca, I didn't notice that about Theralac, but I also take iron supplements due to anemia. When you say it binds to iron do you mean it will make it so it is not absorbed? What if you took the Theralac several hours away from the iron supplements??

The pamphlet says "Theralac contains two prebiotics that are effective at low dosages: Lactoferrin and LactoStim (patent pending). Lactoferrin binds iron and makes it difficult for iron dependent, gram negative bacteria (like Salmonella and E. coli) to grow. This gives gram positive, probiotic bacteria (which requie less iron) a competitive advantage."
I called the company, and talked with Randy yesterday. He stated that the Lactoferrin will not inhibit the amount of iron that one takes when taking supplements.
What I decided, is I will most like take the Theralac twice a week. And other probiotics on other days. I will monitor my CBC and ferritin levels monthly or every other month to make sure that they are OK.
By the way, if you aren't already doing this, it is important that you know your ferritin level. That is a measure of the iron stores in your body. My iron disorders doctor states that any ferritin level less than 50 ng/mL means that your body is deficient or depleted of it's iron stores NO MATTER WHAT THE REFERENCE RANGE FOR THE LAB IS. He wants my ferritin level at 100 before I quit taking iron. It hasn't reached that yet, because of all the blood they keep taking from me!

Nal~ I wasnt having any bowel problems when I switched to Theralac. It is just so much easier to remember ONE pill rather than tons throughout the day and it seems to be keeping things in check for me.
Also I think I already mentioned this to you a long time ago, but in case I did not, I suffered from chronic tummy problems and bizarre bouts of intense constipation bordering on what I felt was intestinal blockage.
Turns out it WAS intestinal blockage--my colon was being strangulated by adhesions that were caused from endometriosis. I had NO other symptoms of endo. This is typical of endo: only having bowel problems. It took me 3 years from the beginning of symptoms until I found the true culprit. (Of course these were my three lyme free years b/t 2001-2004.) Always sumthin.
In the meantime they diagnosed me with EVERYTHING--IBS, gastritis, leaky gut symdrome, candida, you name it. I drank carrot juice laced with this stuff called "the Perfect Stool" for a YEAR straight. It still didnt help.
You can have endo even if you birthed kids, had your tubes tied, had a complete hysterectomy, etc. The only way to have a true diagnosis is by laparoscopy. Just thought I'd put it out there.

Thanks trails. They ruled out endometriosis so that isn't the cause.

I just LOVE Theralac. I have only been on it for 6 days, and the furry tongue "thing" has disappeared totally. (It has been my nemesis for the past 4 years!)
It is expensive, but well, well worth it.
