Does anyone have strong feelings about the effectiveness of one over the other? Has one failed where the other worked?

Personally, I thought Amoxicillin worked better than Doxy. I was, however, not on a large dosage of Doxy (100mg 2X day for 3 weeks). Doxy made me very nauseous, too.
I was on Amoxicillin (875mg 2X day for 10 days) for strep throat/tonsilitis. I noticed a significant decrease in my vibrating/buzzing sensations while on Amoxicillan.
When I see the LLMD next month, I'm going to suggest Amoxicillin instead of Doxy.

Hi,
I tried the doxy for six weeks shortly after becoming ill...it worked for me...only thing is, I did not get enough of it....
Amox works ok I guess..was on 1500mg's a day...it keeps the lyme from getting worse, but I do not think it will cure you....
Now......having said that.....Try some Tetracycline.....That gives you some good herxes and makes you feel like crap.....good stuff!!!!
What I mean to say here is that the Tetra works!!!! Get some!!!! I am taking 1500mg's a day

Amoxy work for me for awhile but lost its effectiveness after several weeks. Doxy worked much better. Some people think that lyme can not become resistant to doxy because of its method of killing. I don't know about that but I do know that doxy never lost its efectiveness for me.
The drawbacks of doxy is that it's hard on the stomach and the sun sensitivity thing. Be VERY CAREFUL of the latter. Some people have had their skin permanately damaged by the sun.
