I can now look back and say that symptoms I noticed 11 years ago can now be attributed to Lyme. I'm not debilitated; I'm raising four kids, (passed it on to two that I know of) I'm functional. Mostly have fibro type pains on bad days, fatigue, heart palpitations, floaters, irritable,but I'm not sick like many of you.
I tested positive a year ago (with IgM 18++, 23-25++, 30,31, 34, and 39)and have been on various antibiotcs for 10 months. I have NEVER had a herx. People talk about it so much, I have to wonder?
Does it mean I tested false postive? Does it mean I'm not being helped by antibiotics?
My latest test came back ind, with 18+++, 30+, 39ind.
A week after starting Biaxin/omnicef I had chest pains for one night. If it was a herx, it was mild.
Any comments?

Some people just get better and better.
I've had herxes. Extra Pain and extra fatigue is usually my clue of a herx.

Usually I do not have herxes eather-- I get only a headache that lasts only a few days or so --mostly-
My LLMD told me that some people- Do not herx--And its Usually Men--
I guess there is some advantages to being a Man--LOL
Well--I changed meds for my Babs- to Bactrim DS 2x aday-from Mepron-- And I got a Migrane from hello--
Lasted 19 Long days 24x7
On night 19 I could not stand it Any More so I took 2 tablets-- of Ibuprofen-- and some how fell asleep--
When I awoke the migrane was Gone-- and only come back for short periods--AAAhhhhh
Also I have been drinking Tonic water --about 2 liters aday-- (Quinine)
It makes me a herx with a headache too- not real bad-- Over time it decreased also---
Tonic Water Tastes like Medium Grade Ditch Water ---
The Scarie part is Im starting to Like It --Ouch

Scence the Bad Herx I have been feelig Great-- and better every day-- I actually felt better except for the migrane I felt better from the First Day On-- Jay---

Hi,
I never really herxed that badly while taking Amox, 1500 mg's a day.
But...After taking Tetracycline same dose, I began to sleep better within a few days. I was feeling good for a week or so then started getting pains such as.....
Fatigue came back, arthritis pain, joints and muscles, some anxiety, spasms, numbness and tingling, mostly in legs...
Also, I find that if you exert yourself physically too much, while your already herxing, it ads more troubles and suffering....
Try to keep the physical stuff to a min. Maybe you are having a small herx and dont know it, that is the case with some people..
Also, some people say, ( like me) I am not herxing, but when put on the right meds, (YOU WILL)!!

Jay, how do you know your migrane was a herx? How do you distinguish between a herx and a reaction to the medication? This has always scared me with my daughter, who had pretty severe immediate reactions to Cipro and Biaxin.
If people have fairly mild symptoms of Lyme and coinfections, do they still herx?
Since beginning antibiotics, my elbows ache at night. No joint/tendon pain prior to that. Can this be an extended herx?
My fibro and fatigue and palpitations, main symptoms for me, have not changed in 10 months of antibiotics.
