I found the article today after doing a Goggle News search on "Lyme Disease"...
"US Government Admits Lyme Disease is a Bioweapon"1/7/06 The existence of the Lyme disease epidemic is officially covered up in the UK, its myriad presentations routinely misdiagnosed as everything from "M.E." to MS to hypochondria. This is the first admission by a US government body that the cause is an incapacitating biowar agent:
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- The $10.6 million Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building will provide a 22,000-square-foot facility to study such diseases as anthrax, tularemia, cholera, lyme disease, desert valley fever and other parasitic and fungal diseases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identified these diseases as potential bioterrorism agents.".
So, for the first time, a US government body admits that Lyme disease is a biological warfare agent. This is the reason that hundreds of thousands of men, women and children around the world have been left to rot with wrong diagnoses, or have had their Lyme disease acknowledged but been told that it is an "easily-treated" disease, given 3 weeks' antibiotics, then told to shove off when their symptoms carried on after that.
In Britain the existence of the epidemic is denied completely, and virtually no effort made to warn or educate the public about the dangers of ticks, which carry the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi.
The Borrelia genus has been a subject of biowar experimentation at least as far back as WW2, when the infamous Japanese Unit 731, which tortured and experimented on live prisoners, studied it.
The reality is, Lyme disease is for many a chronic, horrendous, incapacitating disease producing crippling fatigue, constant pain, loss of memory, possible paralysis, psychosis, blindness and even death.
It was an ideal biowar agent because it evades detection on routine tests, has an enormous range of different presentations, and can mimic everything from ADHD to multiple sclerosis to carpal tunnel syndrome to rheumatoid arthritis to chronic fatigue syndrome (M.E.) to lupus to schizophrenia. Enemy medical staff would never know what had hit them, nor even that ONE illness had hit their population, rather than an unexplained rise in dozens of known conditions.
Honest doctors and scientists who tried to treat or research Lyme disease according to ethical principles have been viciously persecuted by government-backed organisations in the US, Europe and elsewhere. Many specialists in the US were threatened with loss of their license or had anonymous, false allegations sent to the medical board, which tied them up in mountains of paperwork and legal fees...some were forced out of medicine or even driven to suicide.
Instead, medical disinfo agents, most of whom have a background in military/biowarfare units, such as Dr Allen Steere, Mark Klempner, Philip Baker, Edward McSweegan, David Dennis, Alan Barbour etc were enabled to assume top positions in Lyme research , CDC, NIH etc from where they issued false information , covering up the true seriousness and chronic nature of the disease, and comdemned untold numbers to a living hell.
Please help Lyme patients publicise this scandal, which has caused suffering on a massive scale. Contact me by email if you are interested in helping.
Anybody have thoughts on this?

Hey I'm in.
For what it's worth. In small ways if I can help. I wish I could help in bigger ways. But if enough of us do small things it can up to many big things.
The site is still under construction, but will save it for future note.

I'm very confused by your post... THe link you provided did not work, so I was unable to read the article. How does the funding grant indicate an admission of bioweapon involvement? Where are the facts here?

THis is not the first time I have read about this. If you read about plum island you will read more incriminating evidence.
Its very suspicious to me. pattiecakes

Thsi has been discussed before in general. scroll down and read it.
I didn't see any bioweapon diseases listed there that aren't already found in nature.
I also couldn't access the link.
It's not that I couldn't believe it, it's just that were I a terrorist, Lyme disease probably wouldn't be my 1st line of attack.
Given how the medical world percieves it(and too often friends and relatives), I think Lyme has historically fallen more in the catagory of alien abductions as far as believability.

Tree- Thanks for that thread...I guess everone is already well versed on this.
I couldn't get the link either but I copied the full article in my post above.
I am reading the book "Bulls Eye". It chronicals the history of the disease. When Lyme disease first started infecting residents of Lyme, CT it is amazing how all the cases were clustered together at the shoreline.
Did it just drop from the sky in 1975? Was it waiting in the brush in the little ct town waiting to attack in 1975? Doubtful.
Although there is no mention of plum island in the book, when you look at the distance between Lyme CT and plum island...it is less than 5 miles. White tail deer are excellent swimmers.
And if you think about it what better bioweapon than one that makes people disoriented, sick and crazy...WITH NO DIAGNOSTIC TEST! Would keep people confused and distracted. (Thanks Dana for making me laugh about this.)
Could any of us engage in warfare with the way we feel? I can barely make my bed (if I were to ever get out of it.)
I have read that the gvmt doesn't want good tests, cures or research because lyme is still on the bioweapon list. If we find a test/cure...than they are back to trying to weaponize anthrax - like that's an easy thing.
I feel a bit like a guinea pig. I wouldn't mind if I had volunteered for a good cause. But here I am in CT and I don't know what hit me--neither did my doctors--and it is 2006 for goddsakes .

I agree Although it has been discussed in other posts, and yes the author may be radical she was right on in ALOT of the things.
Patients getting the lyme shuffle.
Patients being undertreated and then sent on their way.
Cover-ups and politic's in general should not be allowed to keep hundred's of thousands of Americans hopelessly sick.
I guess I just don't have the energy and mental capability's to get pro-active right now.But I think this is what they are counting on.
I don't think this subject can be discussed too often. If the people shout loud enough publicity- we might get more money for funding.
Without research and research money, how will we ever find a lasting cure?
Like my mom likes to say " the squeaky wheel get the most grease"

I have no idea what I believe about all this, but it is certainly interesting to ponder. And yes, there *is* a lot of peculiar stuff going on re: underdiagnosis/undertreatment of Lyme...

Read "Lab 257" it explains the whole thing. Lymelady

I just ordered two copies of that book. Someone needs to get a screenplay of this for a movie. Maybe combine the story of Polly Murray in "The widening circle" and lab 257.
Would be a blockbuster!

Take a look at the "Conflicts of Interest" link on the Lyme Disease Association website. A very credible document and no less disturbing than Lab 257. I think the LDA is mounting a very solid, rational and methodical approach to bringing the truth to the public and promoting action to acknowledge and treat lyme disease. I think they have a strong and well-respected politcal base. We would do well to throw any support we can muster to their efforts. It is a frustratingly slow process. We really need to communicate with our legislators and implore them to support the bills before them.
BTW, In Lab 257, the military does discuss the value of having a bioweapon that doesn't kill, but creates a health issue that distracts and erodes the economy. Too lazy to look up the passage, but that is the gist of it.
My question about the map in Lab 257 is where did the huge pockets of lyme disease cases on the west coast come from? Anybody have an answer?

Bird carry ticks. Birds migrate every year. They drop their ticks along the way. With or with out man's help, nature will always find a way.

On the "Conflicts of Interest" thing, there have been articles in the papers recently about the abuse at NIH of the conflicts of interest regulations. They are very lenient with the scientists because they cannot pay them competive salaries...so they look the other way rather than deny them opportunity for additional income. The solution is to pay them competitive salaries, and how are you going to accomplish that in the federal gov.? I have a perfect solution - Put professional sports and entertainment careers in a MUCH higher income tax bracket and use that tax money to pay our scientists and other critical employees! Just kidding, Peyton, Michael V., Brad and Angelina! Boy, do we have our values misplaced!!!

Well, I sure think this is possible. Either you have to follow the money to show a cover up or 'something' like this. Any other kinds of reasoning, however flawed, just doesnt hold much water. The denial that every one of those Camp "A" steersters is just too loud to be much else. The stories I read re: the release of this agent by airplane seeding back before they 'knew' the full scope of what they were experiementing (wasnt it in the 50's)with makes more and more sense and the complete lack of defense when certain proof of this actually happening. Anybody that folds that easy has to have a guilty look on their face. Getting any of the higher ups confidents in the knows to fold and confess after all this time is remote. Plus blow their security clearance. Spose they actually didnt know or were not told the real scope of the operation? Probably closely held secrets they all took to their graves by now. Its not something that grandpas bragged to there grandkids or anything!!! When this all started it was easy to treat and cure or so they thought. Alot wasnt known and who knew what chronic side would bring. Now they know, they have to deny. How deep is the knowledge, will they ever find out? Just keep digging. I guess now days we need a great world class puter hacker, maybe, to find the bottom of the Grand Canyon disease info. Dont they declassify all government documents afteer like 20-30 years or so? Who would ever do a cover up??? As the- world -turns- like the grains of sand thru an hourglass.
