My dr is recommending I try these for my stomach. Not all at once of course. She is really crazy about the Mastic supplment for coating the stomach. What do you all think? Also, she recommended castor oil packs for abdominal pain relief?

Nancy, Is the Slippery Elm anything like DGL (Licorice - Chinese Herb)? I took that to coat my stomach and esophagus. I really think it worked.
The endoscopy I had after I had taken it for like two months showed no gastritis or esophagitis after the previous two showed I had both.
Not sure if it was due to the Licorice or not.
I am not sure how it interacts or is impacted by abx so I have stayed off of it while on Ketek.
If anyone knows about Slippery Elm or DGL and ability to take when on abx, please advise.

I just got some slippery elm today to try on my esophagitis (am also taking Carafate but would like to find a natural product).
Does anyone have experience mixing it up and dx?

Slippery elm helped me enormously a few years ago, when I had stomach bleeding (stress etc.). The meds did nothing. Then I started taking slippery elm (better to drink it than just take the capsules) half an hour before meals. It has helped my gut heal. It acts like mucus coating, and allows healing and protection. There is one warning, namely that you shouldn't take meds close to it because it will slow down the absoption. At least that's what I read. It has done wonders for me. DGL is different, but as I remember it helps renew your gut lining. I took some too, but the slippery elm was long term.

Thats pretty funny, considering I'm chewing mastic gum right now and just got done with the castor oil pack on the abdomen. It doesnt do much for me, the heat feels good though. I wonder if we have the same doctor, are you in NY?
The mastic gum you can buy at the health food store. I order mine right from Greece.
here is where I get mine, I used it initially to kill h.pylori a few years ago, it didnt work, but I like the taste so I chew it all the time, the raw tears from the mastic tree of Chios Island. Click on the English flag to get to the English part of the site, you can buy online, the shippings a bit much but its the real stuff!!!
I looked at the Greek site that sells mastic, and saw that they sell cookies flavored with mastic!

Those herbs sound like a good combo ,specially the gum.
You might want to try super critical someday to help heal your tummy too.
I stopped using it & my tummy is at it again so will it is on my re-order list
