I went to see Dr C last week and all my meds are changed. I started Heparin today. Wow, I did it myself!! I usually don't like needles.
I was just wondering how long you can be on it. I'm so glad to be off the Warfin!!!!
I went to see my internist yesterday. She was very supportive with Dr C's choices of meds. What a relief.

I was on it for about 3 years, same for my daughter. She gave birth to her first child while on it. I believe for me, it was a crucial part of my healing. I'm glad you are off Warfarin too. Heparin is much more stable and has a very short half life.
If you are interested and get sick of injections.....I never had one injection. My doc had a compounding pharmacy make it up in a nasal spray. It worked just great for both my daughter and myself. It doesn't work for absoultely everyone, but it might be worth a try. Let me know and I can give you more info if you want.
I now take Nattokinase.

What affect does heparin have in Lyme treatment?
Posted by Jellybelly (Member # 7142) on :
Go to the topic on hypercoagulation, in there about 5 down, there is a thread that has been read over 1000 times. Read it, it talks briefly about Lyme and hypercoagulation. Lyme can be a chronic infection and chronic infections cause hypercoagulation.
There is lots of other stuff to read and it will mostly apply to Lyme too.

Jellybelly,
I don't mind the shots, really you can't hardly feel it. The finger pricks for all the pro-times on warfarin was worse.
I don't think my regular doctor would be very suppotive of me taking a natural supplement for factor v leiden. Hopefully I can stay on the heparin for awhile, and I can cross that bridge later.
