I've never taken this before. Asked Dr. E. about something nautural for the joint pain. I was looking into Sarsaparilla, but she said that's more for allergies. Since she found out I wasn't taking anything, she put me on Glucosamine MSM.

Started taking it Tuesday night, 2/pm.

Wednesday, 2/am 2/pm Spent the whole day feeling sort of energized. Got to working on my webpage updates. Never went to bed...

Thursday....I was still awake and wired at 3 a.m., still doing work on the page. Around 4 a.m. I tried to sleep. Got about 1.5 hours in, had a major nightmare that woke me up and that was it for sleep.

Thursday, 2/am - I spent the whole day feeling utterly exhausted, dizzy and stoned. Felt like my eyes should be red, with me drawling "I'm sooooo wasted, man." Personally, not my favorite feeling [Smile]

Since the only thing that I'd changed was the glucosamine, I looked it up. Found out that it has a history of very little in the way of problems. EXCEPTION: anyone with a history of blood sugar problems. I have severe reactive hypoglycemia.

Boy, now wonder I'm out of it. This stuff mess up my sugar levels! I'm still feeling strung out today.

Just wanted to post this as a warning for anyone who is planning to add this to their treatment plan. It's a no-no for blood sugar issues.

Well, darn! I was going to try some soon. I don't have any blood sugar issues though.

I've taken MSM by itself for years....no problems, only benefits.

I've heard that sarsaparilla can be good for Lyme too....???

You'll be looking for some good sleep very soon, huh?! YIKES!

If you don't have blood sugar issues, you shouldn't have a problem with it. My mother uses it with no problems at all.

Had to take a lunesta last night, probably one tonight as well.

I'm going to wait a couple more days, then try the glucosamine again at minimal 1/day dose. If I can handle that, I might at least get a little benefit out of it.

But wwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Hell of a reaction.

I think you mean chondroitin is, Jay, not glucosamine.

And I guess not all chondroitin is from shellfish??

Found this on a website selling glucosamine/chrondroitin:

"There is no allergic reaction known to glucosamine. No fish or shellfish products are present in the preparations."

That's an interesting statement, seeing as I'm allergic to Glucosamine. Go figure! My TMJ doc wants me to take at least the chrondroitin but I can't find just plain chrondroitin.
