I have been taking Ketek and Mepron together for a couple days now and feel like I am in some sort of "twilight zone" mentally - really loopy. Just really out there. Do you think this is the drug working or could it be that I'm feeling drugged because they are too much for my system?
I am beginning to curse myself for mentioning it to my doctor, but at my last visit I asked him if he felt I should be treated for babesia since 75% of those with lyme have a co-infection. He said I tested negative for babesia, but when I told him I had read that only 2 out of 9 forms of babesia can even be tested for, he agreed to have me try 21 days of this.
Should I still take my usual supplements as well?
Take care everyone.

I think it's just your body getting used to the meds.
Better to treat Babs than not to treat even if you're not totally sure you have it.

Wow something really hit me this evening. All of a sudden I have this sensation over my whole body that I am having a "full-body acupuncture."
It's weird though because this is my 4th day on Mepron and this didn't happen on days 1,2, or 3. What gives?
Could this be a herx? And if this is a herx is it proof that I do have babesia even though my tests were negative?
Thanks for your thoughtful time,
Marc

Hey there Skimpbiz,
Your reaction could be a herx however I suspect that the mepron may be giving you an adverse reaction judgeing from my past experiences with meds and reactions...
I have not taken Mepron however so this may be a normal response.
Others on Mepron should respond......zman

Hey Skimpbiz
Hang in there. It sounds like a herx.
My sister had IV abx for a breast infection and didn't get any side effects Same with my husband . He took high dose of mino for a month and it also was a walk in the park.
Before I had lyme I had taken abx for bladder infections, strep throat ect.. and never experienced "Herxs" or nasty side effect.s I felt good after a few days.
Could your syptoms be side effect from the meds... maybe. Less likely, if you have lyme or babs Just my personal opinion.
I have syptoms like brain pressure and no where does it say in any of my med books that this is a side effect.
I was on IV 6 months and orals for lyme two years now. I have to say this combo of mepron plus arteminsinin and abx has produced ,hands down the worst herx so far,. Brutal.
I don't think you can get better from lyme without adressing the co-infections.
The odds are. 1/3 of patients with lyme have babs too.
I am pulsing 4 days on 11 off. I am not taking any supps for now, except mag.. If you still want to take the mag -space out three hours apart from meds.
P.s. The ketek may be hitting the lyme also.

If it is a herx, couldn't it be a Lyme herx in lieu of a Babesia herx? Then again, it could be a herx from Lyme & Babesia.
I feel like I never have a clue! Posted by skimpbiz (Member # 4433) on :
I woke up at 6am this morning feeling short of breath. It's pretty scary and I don't know why this is. It's almost like I can't feel myself breathing, even though I am. Not sure if that makes sense. My finger nail and toe-nail color is fine, as our my lips. I don't get it. This is so weird.
I am not in pain of any type.

Mepron herxes hit four days after starting and again on the 30th or so day. Sounds like a herx to me. Lymelady

Thanks for the reply.....it's been odd. Wednesday night I was quite achey and also had pin prick sensations. Last night was zero pain, thinking I was over the hump but then wake up short of breath.
Would it be ok if I kept a running dialogue with you guys in this thread about how I'm doing? Knowing I have people to share these things with really helps me get through it.
