I was on doxycycline for seven months. It made me extremely sun-sensitive. In short, I burned to a crisp even with 40+ SPF sun protection.

Three weeks ago, I switched to biaxin. It's controlling the Lyme well, but I'm wondering if I'm going to have the same problem with sunburn when warm weather returns. Any comments?

Thanks.

Jim, here is NIH's medlineplus link. User friendly for illnesses & meds...biaxin.

medmaster/a692005.html#precautions

FYI, doxy is the culprit. I've been on doxy & biaxin since 8-04; still on them. Doxy effects my eyes terribly, and I cover up well when outdoors...NO EXPOSED SKIN including my face.

Use caution; plan on it being like doxy BUT I don't feel it will for you. Cover up when driving.

Talk to you pharmacist about this too.
Best wishes.

You should be fine with biaxin outside.

We switched from tetra( similar to doxy) to biaxin on the week-ends we were going sailing without issues. My son was a lifeguard and on biaxin. Now that is a scarey thought a lymie as a life guard.

Sun screen doesn't seem to help with the sun sensitivity from doxy. I found covering was best for me.
