Are there any things I should be avoiding before blood is drawn, or any other type of blood-work is done?

I don't want to mask things with something in my diet etc. that might make it harder to get a clear diagnosis.

Thanks! [Smile]

don't know if it's true or not, but one doc told me not to exercise for 24 hours before having blood drawn.

At one point, in my life, I was a registered nurse. I don't have all the answers, but, can give you some guidance.

It depends on the type of blood work that is being drawn. For example, fasting blood sugars or cholesterols need no food before the blood draw to receive an accurate result. Other tests do not have restrictions , per se.

When you receive a prescription or doctor's orders for blood work, check with your physician or lab. That will avoid a second trip back. Also, check the labs hours of operation so you don't have a wasted trip.

My doctor's former nurse told me that a lab director told her that all labs get better results when done after a fast, even those which do are not indicated to require it.
