I just got my results back. I have not talked with the doctor yet but I got the report.
It states:
"At C5-6, there is some disc space narrowing, with a small to moderate disc protrusion posteriorly on the left. This causes some deformity of the spinal cord, and may exert some mass effect upon the C6 nerve root on the left.
At C6-7 there is mild disc bulging.
I see no findings to suggest cervical spine involvement by Lyme disease."
I did hurt my neck by lifting a heavy plant 2 1/2 years ago. The MRI back then stated that there was minimal bulging, but nothing significant. That report pretty much stated that everything was okay.
Now...I don't know if my pain is coming from the disc situation or from Lyme or from both.
I also wonder if Lyme could have caused this to be worse over the past two years.
I have not done anything to hurt my spine/neck since I lifted the plant, so I know that I did not re-injur the area.
I really don't know what to think now. I don't know how bad this is because I have not talked to the doctor yet.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Does anyone think this could be related to Lyme at all?

Lyme can increase pain that you have from another source. I can't interpret the MRI results, but if it is from the injury, then Lyme can cause inflammation that is worsening the pain from that injury. Lyme can also cause pain when there is no phsyical deformity.
What kind of pain are you experiencing? Location, type of pain, etc.

My pain started in my neck, then progressed to my joints, elbows, knees, legs, the back of my head, ribs. Not all pain is at the same time and the same place at once...it travels. I have pain daily but more in my neck and upper back.

Your report is very similar to my MRI of my neck.
Mine was ordered because they thought i had migraines. I remember before things hit hard i was at work and kept saying my neck is killing me...it just felt like i needed someone to pull the top of my head to stretch me.
little did i know what i was in for.
i would discuss this with your neurologist...he will most likely refer you to a neurosurgeon to have more tests done IF they feel you need surgery.
I presented with NO signs of any kind of neck related issues......BUT the radiologist that read my report was not looking at me.....they report what they see on the MRI film. This is what the one nuerosurgeon explained to me.
So, my advice is to see what your neuro says and go from there.
If you look on the newbie links under symptom list...i believe it has something on there about neck disc herniations and lyme disease.
Also the one nerosurgeon kept asking me if i was in any accidents....diving accidents......he was a tad baffled at how I got this injury.

land, I'm surprised they gave you a written report! Where I'm from, report goes to dr. ordering & they discuss it with you.
Your results are very similar to mine, and mine showed DEGENERATIVE arthritis plus the narrowing.
I use frozen ice packs and moistened heating pad on those really sore areas switching them around as needed. Had this ALL my life.
As a toddler, I fell off a grain trailer on farm & landed on my head. Had major memory problems & had 2-3 yrs. of head massages getting my memory back.
My massage therapist said she's never had a neck as bad as mine; like a broken one!

My neck MRI was also very similar to your result.
My neuro duck and neurosurgeon duck both said this was what was causing the leg, arm weakness and hyperreflexia and severe neck pain. I knew in my heart it wasn't but I ended up having surgery cuz I couldn't walk. I am much worse now. The stress of surgery set something off BIG_TIME...? maybe lyme.
