I am still working and it was 83 degrees today. I have a Picc line which is on my upper arm. I wear a sock around it to keep all of the line in. I am sure my clients will question it if they see it and wearing a sock on your arm looks a bit ridiculous anyway. In my business they may not think that I should represent them if I am ill. I was just wondering how others have hid their Picc lines or what they say if they have been in similar situations. ???

I did not wear the extension when I had mine. It was just a little blue thing coming out of my inside of my elbow.
I also didnt wear an ACTUAL sock, but they called it a sock---they had rolls and rolls of it. The home health agency provided me with new ones each time they came (once a week) to redress the area. Maybe you should ask them for this? I also know my vet has some---they tried to make a thing for my cat (so he wouldnt lick a wound) from it. I dont know what it is called, but it is pretty standard like: adhesive tape.
I was in the desert in heat and teaching with mine---it scared the little kids, so I would just wear very baggy and light cotton shirts.

Yep.....long sleeved shirt and/or a light jacket to cover. I had the same issue.
I didn't want anyone to think I was "weak" or "sick".

My son just wears the mesh sleeve over his. He doesn't care if anyone sees it.

I was in school and I really didnt care if they saw the picc line cuz I was limping and seemingly ill so I couldnt hide it anyway...
I think with the heat just loose closing .... or a less tailored jacket....
even those 3/4 sleeves should cover it.
maybe darker clothing would be better. Light clothing might let it show through more....
dark colors flaten form to so the bump would be less noticable.

Hi there. It is so funny that you posted this because I just had a midline put in and realized QUICKLY that I needed something to cover my arm with the high temps coming.
I purchased thin cotton knitted fabric (that stretches a bit) and sewed little arm covers to slide up my arm and cling. I made a few different ones, depending on what I am wearing and if I am feeling festive.
They are machine washable and even work to cover my line in the shower against midst. They have been amazing. Even my home health care nurse commented on the assortment saying all her patients should have one.

Buy some cheap colorful socks that compliment your outfits and wear them with pride. Use this as an opportunity to accessorize! I had to go to a formal wedding with mine. I wore a sleeveless black dress with a full arm sheer sock on the PICC arm. I got compliments on my unusual style. Am not sure anyone realized I had a PICC.
Show it off, have fun.

I know it may be difficult, but my daughter went to school with short sleeves on purpose so others would know she was not crazy, that she had a reason for her issues.
She was a high school student and somewhere down the line, I think it will cause someone to be saved because either they will remember and get treatment asap or check better for the ticks.
It is an opportunity to educate if you are brave and can do it..Good luck...
