I told my LLMD that I had been on abx for months and he said I should have been much better. He suspected I had Mono and prescribed Acyclovir for one month. I have been on it for three days and no improvment but worse.

I have consistant sole pains and hand and hip pains. are the signs of Mono or other co-infections? Thanks

Sole pain for me was bartonella. 3 months on Levaquin and it is no longer an issue.

I'm on this but the brand name is Zovirax and it is not for Lyme but is an antiviral med to treat HHV6 virus.....

I have not had any side effects except for less sores in my mouth.

DId you get tested for HHV6?

No, but my llmd said if I don't respond to antibiotics I may not have lyme but instead some weird virus. He said he will then put me on anti-virals(Valtrex). It's too soon to tell yet. I don't have my Igenex results yet and have only been on antibiotics 7 days.

Something like 95% of people over the age of 3 has HHV-6. It is a matter of whether or not it is active.

Yes I emant ot write active HHV6 virus....

Although if you are getting chirnic cankor sores in your mouth followed by feeling run down and a bit flu like its possible you will have your answer..

Good Luck and hope you feel better.

Most of the world population has viruses, and EBV, HHV-6 are very common. They are normally dormant, but an infection like Lyme disease can trigger then to become active. In that case, you need to reat the active infection (the Lyme) with antibiotics, before you start pouring on the antivirals. [Cool]
I'm interested in how long, and what doese of antibiotics you were on before your doctor decided they think its not Lyme, but a virus. It's likely both. Usually, the Lyme triggers the viruses.

I take acyclovir orally for my cold sores--herpes whatever number????

I have been having more and more outbreaks since I started plaquenil---it worries me as plaq is an immuno suppressant.

I have found that a lyme flare/herx or relapse will activate my cold sores. I pretty much need to take the oral acyclivor for months on end until the lyme is under control and my body's immune system is back on track.

I have never had any bad reaction to acyclovir. I also take L-lysine daily, but sometimes it is not enough.

I am wondering the same things as wild condor---

It seems weird to go from lyme to mono as a diagnosis. What abx have you been on and for how long? There are so many other possible co-infections.

My LLMD has me on acyclovir because she wants to keep latent viruses from being activated by the immune response of my lyme treatment.

I have hand, hip and sole pains as well. My hand pains are actually caused by my thoracic outlet (shoulder) area. My sole pains are better when I wear ankle supports. The sole and hip pain was reduced after a few months on Levaquin. I will probably start again, but have had some gastro issues.

Thanks again for the replies.

I had been on Doxy (200mgX2) and Amoxiclin (1gX4) for 1.5 months and had some improvement of my some symptoms like brain fog, but not the sole and palm pains (Possible bartonella as SForsgren implied?).

I thought it's weired too because the Ignex Western is CDC positive (could it be messed up with another person's). I didn't have obvious signs of any viral activity.

Today was the worst day since I have been ill. Hex? or Acyclovir side effects or virus death by Acyclovir? All symptoms that getting beter seems have been reversed.

The LLMD seems has treated many Lymies.

Frustration [confused]
