this is getting out of hand. yesterday, i had a big lunch, and dinner and a good breakfast yet i am still 94lbs.
Dr dont even blink an eye at this low weight and my skeleton figure.
does anyone know how i can loose 5lbs overnite.
just by sleeping.

I can't seem to gain any weight either. I lost about 25 lbs. in the past 6 months. I gain a few pounds then lose it right away. I heard abx causes you to lose your appetite.

Babesia? I know I lost 11 lbs in one week one time and I was already very thin. I had a hard time eating though.
Dr put me on a tricyclic antidepressant and the weight loss stopped in a week's time. Been on one ever since. I don't recommend the SSRI's, but maybe you need SOMETHING.
I know I was pretty scared by it all! I lost 25 lbs in a matter of months, ending up at 95lbs. I don't think you can afford to lose much more.

I don't know if this is helpful but typically a weight gain or loss of 5 lbs in a 24 hour period is related to fluid retention/loss.
I realize that you need to keep the weight on and I'm sorry I can't help with that but if you literally had weight gain or loss of that much in a 24 hour period then it is probably related to fluid balance.

When I got too thin, my PCP told me to add protein to every meal or snack. I added meat to my lunch salads and nuts later in the day. I put the weight back on, and now can't stop eating the nuts!

me too Cant- I am sick of looking like a skinny scarecrow. An 5'3 & weigh in 95-97lbs.
I think its the babs but could be the lyme.
The stats are something like: 80% of lyme patients are over weight and some where in the 20% is anorexic.
I have had a heck of a time keeping my weight up, specially on the no sugar low carb diet.
I seem to be able to keep my weight up to 97 by eating more caloric foods. Like 1/2 & 1/2 or whole milk. Real organic butter,sour cream, and stuff like that.One slice of provlone chesse has 100 calories in it.
I know we are not supposed to have this much dairy , but this is the only way I have found to keep my weight up.
Last year I went on a 5 day vacation and eat everything that wasn't nailed down. I out ate my hubby- he's 6' 180 and thats saying alot. Came home & gained 1/2 pound. Not only did I end up with serious yeast issues I didn't gain any real weight.
I know its hard to look like a scarecrow. Some days I even scare myself.

I've been there and it's not good. I'm 5.6 1/2 and at my lowest weighed 96 lbs. People thought I was sick. Since getting treatment I've gained weight and am 116 lbs.
Ask a knowledgable person at the health food store about different weight gain products and protein shakes.
I agree a weight gain of 5 or 6 lbs sounds like fluid.

I used to be a nurse so in my humble opinion:
Several pound weight loss or gain in a 24 hour period is usually a fluid volume overload or underload.
Examples: heart problems with kidneys and fluid retention. Flu with dehydration, etc.
Big problem with the up- down yo-yo of this is your electrolyte imbalance. Can interfer with things like potassium, sodium, etc. Which can give you other problems.
Let your physician or your LLMD know what is going on, so they can evaluate the problem and hopefully, pinpoint the problem and hopefully fix it.
I do know at this point, Lyme and coinfections can do all sorts of problem with eating: over and under, anorexia . Just the toil of the process have having lyme robs the body of a lot.
Please get hold of your MD: to get this figured out to stay stable.
I'm 5'8 and 130. Weight has not been a problem yet. I have always been thin before lyme, but do have periods where food isn't appealing at all.
Take Care of yourself and best wishes you will get this figured out.

Hi, I never in my lifetime thought would be concerned about too little wt. Last couple yrs. after another bite by mosquito. Think was WNV/ had encephalitis. I believe it triggered another Lyme co-infection.
To the point lost my appetite, nothing used to love sounds good.
I have been on anti nausea meds. to try to get food in.
What i have found to help keep wt. on is 1000 cal health shakes I make with frozen yogurt,vit, do use skim milk cholesterol is high.Lots Ovaltine has more vit. than instant breakfasts. Try to make it healthy while high in cal.
The shakes seem to help me keep wt. on & more even.
Also eating later in day. Heck my nights & days are all screwed up anyway.
The shakes serve a dual purpose. So that is good.
My wt. is all over the place which for me is not normal usually was always wanting to lose those 5 or 10 pounds. Always was a struggle if just put food in my mouth at all.
So for us who kept semi normal wt. this is surprise & have to find what works best for you to keep level. For reasons mentioned above electrolytes etc. Hard on bod. That is why yo yo dieting is worse than not at all. Good luck. We never know what is next???? Kerry

I was the same way until I treated for coinfections and started consistent Lyme treatment... All of a sudden my muscle tone came back and I looked "healthy" again...
I feel it could be babesia related since that was the biggest isue originally with me....
I know how hard it is b.c being underweight gives just as much of a stigma as being overweight...

I can't do that.
I would just lose to much weight.
I was about 106lbs and 5'5
and I know I looked terrible at that weight...
I was eating small meals all day and it took me many months to get to 110lbs.
Maybe you could try adding ensure... I was doing that to...
extra calories , fat and nutrition.
the coffee flavor was the best.
i eat normal now and my weight is ok. around 117lbs..... i'm still thin but not boney....
i have my curves back.

It's called Glutime enhanced antioxidant powder by baxter healthcare. And its supposed to:
help me gain weight boost my immune system and help my stomach. My Doc recomended me to get it.

Add weight gain protein powder (they have stevia sweetened) to a smoothie, eat nuts, add avocado to your salad, etc. Look for ways to add high quality fats and protein to your diet.

my family says it is water weight too.
i did ask my LLMd what i could do to gain weight ..........his reply "that is a new one" :-( i asked him on the first visit. I will try again.
i was eating a ton of eggs........i think im missing calories at lunch......sometimes i eat a small lunch. if i miss a meal, im done.
Im eating almonds again.....they are good. I tried ensure before and it made my face numb. Stouffers veg lasagna packs on the weight, but i still look like a scarecrow.
i will try different things maybe the holistic dr and endo im seeing next week will figure it out.

Oh another odd thing tonite i weighed in at 94.5...i ate dinner and was 96.5 within a half hour.......its just odd.

I know this sounds like a stupid question but is your scale balanced. I went shopping for sacles a while back and it most of them said it can frequently be off a few pounds.
Some people have that fancy expensive scale from germany,that's dig./
I have an old cheap one. And I can weigh myself and come back shory later and not the same weight.

i shouldnt worry my LLMD appt is on Saturday and i always weigh in there at 98......i must gain weight during the car ride . they have a digital scale there too........they just switched to digital.
i know in the past i hop on it and it weighed me at 88..and i wasnt that bad.....
i guess weight is just a number anyhow....i lost something else........im all bones.

I drink Jay Robb egg white protein powder every morning and I add some other stuff such as the Mt Caora Goat whey.... I find this to be very hydrating and helps my energy a lot....
I think it would also help with weight gain..it has no sugar and it tastes really good. I mix mine with some ice and rice milk....
ALso avacados are a great source of good fat... I like to spread it on sandwhiches and salads...I even eat it alone when taking my malarone for fat absorption...
I think that the Lyme/coinfections can cause so much muscle wasting and water imbalance...
I finally have some curves back and muscle....It took me a while... but I remember about a year or so into treatment I finally came around a bit.
I am 5'5 and used to weigh 95.. now I am a healthy 110.....

I lost alot of weight with lyme- I'm normally in mid 130's, but sometimes with lyme I was down in low 120's- all those pills didn't help me feel like eating, either, but that wasn't all of it. I did have babesia, too- that surely didn't help matters... I'm back up to weight now, or just about so. One factor is probably that you're worried about too much carbs becaues of the yeast threat; that's probably a valid concern. Whole wheat bread with lots of nut butter or cheese seemed to help.. Rice and cheese with some lentils and garlic mixed in, and doused wuth flax seed oil before eating, is another bone-padding combi. Be sure to take all you supplemental vits and lots of good veggies- I know that doesn't directly help gain weight, but when the nutrient balance is better, you set the stage for utilizing those calories. And then, there's carob almonds... But those've gotten so expensive you have to just buy lottery tickets and hope, if you want to eat many of these.... DaveS
