I am posting this question for a friend who is having trouble with her computer accessibility.
In 1993 she got really sick and was given a DX of Mono. Her health never came back and she now has a Dx of CFS.
She has major liver problems. She has a doctor who is trying to work with her because he thinks she has some kind of bacterial infection if not Lyme.
In searching this site I have found no reference to Lyme disease causing liver disease.
Anyone know of Liver and Lyme associated problems?
Thanks,
happygranny

hi granny,
I had lyme hepititis....jaundice, liver swelling and pain from Bb...
At the time, I was seeing a naturopath who put me in a very simple diet for 3 months...brown rice, cooked vegies, organic chicken or cold water fish... and lots of herbs, suppliments and herbal biotics.... My liver got better for a while, and then after LD dx, I had more liver symptoms arrise which resolved with abx.
I hope your friend is feeling better soon.

I think most people with this disease who have chemical sensitivities have Lyme impacting on their liver. After I focused on treating the liver with supplements and essential oils my chemical sensitivities went away.

Lyme absolutely affects the liver. This is why lyme patients can not drink alcohol. Unfortunately, lyme is frequently "diagnosed" via liver tests, especially when one has had it for a long time. It's a tragedy that your friend wasn't treated back in 1993.

Thank you all for responding to my query.
I am copying and pasting all your responses in an email to her.
Lyme Ed, that symptoms page about Lyme is very useful, she will be bringing it to the 3 different doctors she is seeing.
