I've had it for a week and it is not getting better. Does any one have recommendations?

Aw David,

I'm so sorry. I have only dealt with this once, a LONG time ago, but still remember the terrible discomfort.

Here is a site that I found with lots of rememdies.

Hope one works for you! [Smile]

My best,

Thanks, Melanie. It's really not THAT bad but i am concerned that a week later, I'm getting new bumps.

PS Did you check out my house in Charlie's thread in "Off Topic?"

Well, I have tried about everything, and the only thing I can recommend is time and calamine lotion. However, here is a website that might offer ideas on useful treatments:

Years ago, pre-lyme, I tried a steroid type cream, don't remember the name. It was a terrible mistake.

Call your local pharmacy. My CVS carries it. $40.00 I think.

Good Luck,

David,

I don't know what helps apart from Calamine lotion slightly. There was another lotion I've used, but I can't remember the name of it.

I had a REALLY bad case of Poison Ivy in 1993, and I know I was also gettign new bumps well into a week of it....the whole thing lasted about 3 weeks and I was literally just millions of blisters from head to foot. I am severely allergic to it.

Technu! Miracle stuff for me! Plus you get to take a super hot shower whenever you want (then you put the technu on) and it's just like scratching all over.

In California drug stores and some grocery stores carry it.

It's pretty cheap, as I recall, and you can wash yourself down with it whenever you think you might have been exposed and it will help prevent rashes.

I used to get horrible PO reactions; Technu got me over them very fast, AND I eventually became pretty immune to PO (would just get small rashes that vanished quickly) after using it. So it must have helped me desensitize, too.

jule weed? not sure of the spelling.

Yes, Pq, the thing that works best is JewelWeed.

I just found out about it this last week. My wife sure wishes she had it last summer when she got into poison Ivy. She is getting some before summer.

People with their home remedies only made her worse. It lasted about a month. AND a lot of money at the doctors and for prescriptions that didn't work very good. Her doctor said it was the 2nd worse case of Poison Ivy that she has ever seen.

Jewelweed is INSTANT. You probably won't even get the blisters.

You can get it from Karen at altnature.com

Are you sure it's PO?
Many of the cycline abx, particularly with too much sunlight exposure, will cause rashes EXACT in appearance and sensation to urishiol rashes. Only thing is they seem to last longer! I know because I've had them both.
Technu seems to help me the most.
Ivyblock is fantastic as a pre-exposure lotion.
Hot-as-you-can-stand (short of scalding yourself) showers (3 or 4 days after the rash presents) can have a relieveing sensation which is indescribeable!!

I was wondering the same thing "are you sure its po?)'

I have had a rash that looks like poison since contracting lyme/.... the derms at one time even said it was p-ivy.

None of the remedies helped it and I have had it for 3 years! Now with the help of herbs it is 98% gone.

the trick for me will be if it STAYS gone.

Thanks, folks. Yes, I'm sure it's poison oak. I've had it before and can identify the exposure. It doesn't seem to be getting worse so I think Ill watch it a couple more days.

Patticake and David, TRY the Jewelweed. IT is NOT expensive and from all I have read, it is like a miracle to use it.

WHAT have you got to lose? Besides suffering, I mean?

thanx JimBob,
I actually have TONS of jewel weed growing in my yard during the summer months and it was only a temporary fix. I did make a tea out of it and apply it to my skin and it was very soothing,.

Actually the herbs I am taking are making a HUGE difference in my well being and my rash continues to go away daily! Im just not sure once its gone how long I need to stay on this dose. I definately had to treat this from the inside out/
