I am looking for any studies on headache/neckpain as the only symptoms of neuroborrialis.

I have a friend with unending chronic pain in head and neck (similar to mine). Been goin on 4 years. Would like to send her some studies on this. What if her labs come back neg?

She could still have lyme? Tough to make a clinical diagnosis just based on two symptoms?

Thanks,
Kim

Just a thought

has she had her neck checked out?

she could also have a pinched nerve or altered disc or some other structural problem.

I am not saying that she doesnt have lyme but there alot of other possibilities with those two symptoms.

Sorry I dont know of any research. hopefully, someone else will.

Best wishes [Smile]

I have never posted here before. This is what is going on with me.
1998- Headaches, only on occasions
1999- Started with anxiety attacks, was left with 3 months of nausea.
2000- Bug crawling sensations, everywhere
2000-present- headaches (burning in back of head, facial pressure/tingling, ear pain, swollen lymph node (under jaw, same side as headaches and ear pain), severe heart palpitations (MVP at age 15, now 34), never had a rash, but got bit by something on behind, swollen groin nodes, Remember back in 1998, a few days with weakness, and thats when headaches started, low libido, weakened orgasms (sorry, but true), neuralgia type pain in ribs, stiffness in muscles upon wakening, Does any of these raise red flags with anyone here? My husband has had 2 ticks removed from him, once in 97 the other just in Jan 2006. Does this sound more like Lyme or MS? I am very scared, but when this first started it was chalked up as stress, now as the years have gone by the crawling sensations are terrible. Really bad when I wear pants. Hot baths or weather makes me feel better, winter is bad for me. Thank you for your help in advance.

JennyR,

Those symptoms and their progression sound similar to what happened to me. Started out slowly like yours and as time went by symptoms changed or moved. Then one day all hell broke lose. I've had the head pain, ear pain, neck pain, swollen nodes in neck and groin area and the decreased sexual funtion. Also joint pain, muscle twitches, stabbing pains, blurred vision and thought, weakness and fatigue etc... Diagnosed with Lyme in 8/04 after being tested for everything my doc could think of, Lyme being the last; and have been battling it ever since. The good news is that 90% of the symtopms are gone now and most days are livable. Hope this is of some help. If you already haven't find a good Lyme doc in your area.

Kim, I don't have any studies to refer you to but I went undiagnosed for 18 years because my only symptom for 15 of those years was chronic neck and back pain (joint instability) which sends me to the chiropractor 3x a week just to stay mobile. I am finding out now that it is really more a manifestation of Central Nervous System lyme. So yes, absolutely it can be lyme with just neck pain-this is how mine started before it moved into my whole spine. Once other things have been eliminated you should look at lyme.
