I'm currently on IV Rocephin for the third time in six years with moderate improvement. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Hyperbaric Oxygen. Any cures? Anyone experience eye problems. Anyone have your own machine and using it without direct medical supervision? With abx? Thanks. Bob

I did 20 dives before starting any abx. I was hoping to treat without abx and was hoping the dives would allow oxygen into anerobic places in the body where the bacteria is hiding. The dives definitely caused major herx but did not seem to have any long term therapeutic value. The cost was $200 per dive. An expensive experiment ... Although the standard protocol is 20 dives, I have known some people who did 80. They felt it was a helpful adjunct.

I have talked to many people that said - helpful while on it, regressed when stopping. Long-term value for many was minimal. I have not pursued it. Now, I have heard that for children, the impact of HBOT may be even better than for adults in terms of long-term benefit.

My guess is that the people that have aerobic coinfections like Bart and Brucella are the ones that don't get much benefit from HBOT.
HBOT might be a bad choice for anyone that has had Bart because of the likelyhood that there will always be some degree of infection remaining. Some of these pathogens can survive in either condition, even though they are technically classified as aerobic or anerobic.
But who knows, maybe HBOT is the ticket when combined with the right abx, even if Bart is onboard? Could be that the people that didn't do well on HBOT were not on abx at the same time?
