So heres my deal, about two months ago i thought i had ringworm. i thought i might have gotten it from starting at a gym. I used 3 tubes of lotrimin, and lamisil.
None worked, i finally after a couple of weeks just let it be, it started to spread, i went from a few to like fifteen and twenty.
They are all like the size of a quarter to half dollar and are circular in shape with red borders and totally clear in the center.
3 weeks ago i went to my llmd apt. to show doc P them and discuss it. He said it didnt really seem like ringworm but he was interested in why it was in my groin area and why it was spreading.
he took me off meds for a week or so to see if it was a reaction to the meds. then put me on fluconazole 200mgs a day which i have been on for almost 10 days now.
They slowly looked like they were fading a week ago or so as far as the red borders, but now they are red again, and look like they are getting bigger with the clearing in the center.
IF the topicals did not work and i am 10 days into the fluconazole, what is going on, it has been just over two months of having these now.
Any ideas, who should i see, and if fluconazole or the other products did not do anything for it, then i wonder if it is even fungal.
Please help here, i dont know what this could mean, could it take longer for the pills to work than ten days, or should i look into any other possibilities, doc p said they did not really fit his idea of secondary lyme rashes or em rash either so what???????? thanks dj

Don't know what to suggest except that you take pictures to document the rash on the chance it does turn out to be Lyme or tick related.
Have you tried topical tea tree oil? Might work.

Have you been to a dermatologist? It could always be something unrelated to your Lyme.

DJ, I feel you would get many more replies if you edit/pencil icon your topic line to: ringworm or another skin problem?
The MORE specific you are on your posts, the more replies you will get since majority of folks have a very limited time here. So we skim the topic lines and join in on ones we have or have knowledge of.

I have something similar. Mine started on my scalp and shoulders and buttocks. Went to 2 dermatologists and they didn't have a clue. (both heads of dept for major hospitals)
I used tubes of antifungals and nothing helped. Also on difulan 200 mg day. Out of sheer desperation, I made up mixture of plain kefir(cultured milk) put in about 6 extra acidophillus capsules put in refigerator and started putting on these ems'.
The are really clearing up, not to mention how good the cool cream feels. You have to put it on 3-6 x day and be liberal. I also alternate with l-lysine super+ by quantum.
I know common sense would dictate that is was fungal, but I have disseminated bart, and it looks like the pictures I have seen. I am also on some very strong herbs. Try it and let me know if it works for you. Good Luck Gael

I also had what I thought was ringworm for many years. The rashes were on my arms and legs and would come and go. They really didn't bother me much, only itched a little now and then. So, I ignored them.
I later found out that these were indeed Lyme rashes, and they finally left as soon as I began antibiotics.
I suppose my point is...not all TBD rashes are typical bulls-eye. They vary greatly in size, shape and frequency. So, if the meds for antifungals are not working, you may be dealing with a TBD rash.
