Sleep doc may want to try this on me?

Have any of you tried it? did it work ?

Another option is to take hydroxyzine(atarax) just to knock me out. It's an antihistamine.

I gotta get some sleep!!!!!!

Hi Robi

I had a friend with this. His wife was ready to kick him out of the bed because his jerking and kicking her was driving her crazy. I told him to use naturalcalm, a magnesium supplement. He was back to normal in under two weeks. Might be worth trying instead of using a drug $$$ and potential of side effects

Have you had your ferritin level checked ( this is different from regular iron blood test) If this is off, that can be part of the problem also

Thanks .... I already take a lot of Mg ... including injections so I am not sure taking more would be good.

Try quinine...herbal treatment for restless leg. I had to use it for myo-klonis, really hard kicks, as well as the "regular restless leg tyype movements".

Tonic water with quinine helped (bitter tasting) but did have sugar in it. Diet I think has aspertane..a big no-no.

I second the ferritin level....get it checked. It needs to be over 50 ng/mL. If not, that may be what is causing your RSL. If it's less than 50, work with your doctor on taking iron supplements to increase it.

My ferritin was 5! [Eek!]

I've had BAD Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD) which is a type of restless leg for years. I took clonezapam for years and it finally didn't work at all. I switched to Requip about a year ago and it has helped immensely.

So is Restless Leg Syndrome a symptom Of Lyme, etc.?

Researchers believe that the underlying cause of RLS may be related to dopamine, a neurotransmitter that carries signals between nerve cells that control body movement.

Requip has been used to treat Perkinson't Disease and was recently approved by FDA for the treatment of RLS.

RLS is also associated with peripheral neuropathy, which seems to be common fidning in Lyme.

I have been experiencing RLS since I was a child. I did have a sleep study which revealed Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, which is experienced by many people with RLS.

My neurologist prescribed Requip (much lower dose than for the treatment for Perkinson's disease) for me about 2 years ago, and it has helped me tremendously.
