at my second visit with my llmd, she admitted that based on all negative tests, she would give me treatment just because of the em rash i had (kind of her!!).

so because I can't take biaxin, flagyl, doxy or tetra, we started on amoxy. first 10 days at one 500 mg per day, now i'm on two (1 in morning and 1 at night for 1000 per day) then i go to 3 per day for 3 months. then i get a refill for another 3 months of 3 per day. so she's given me about 6 months of antibiotics.

so far i've had no herxes but have less dry eyes, muscle pain, and thankfully less headache and rage.

however, the stomach pain and pain under right rib is excruciating!! not immediately after i eat but anywhere from 4-8 hours later. i mean, i just lay and cry the pain is so bad, goes right through to my back. i have no gallbladder.

so questions: when should i take a break from amoxy? i got bit in june 2005 and have had no treatment so this is the first anti i've had.

also does lyme affect stomach and under rib area? anybody have trouble eating?

also, how many times do you detox? i take hot epsom salts baths twice a week. i try to drink a lot of water cause a couple of times i felt dizzy and weak afterwards.

this sucks........

This sounds like liver pain. Try a castor oil pack.

Are any of your liver enzymes elevated?

Almost everyone has some type of G.I. problem -- either from the bugs themselves (could be bartonella) or the antibiotics causing yeast problems or overgrowth of other bad bacteria.

Do you have any diarrhea?

There is no one right answer as to when to take a break but if you are having this many problems after only a couple of weeks of antibiotics it is time to make some changes -- I don't believe in killing yourself with a herx or drug side effects.

I am assuming you are taking your meds with food?

Do you have these symptoms after every meal or only after the meal when you take your antibiotics?

Post more details and maybe someone can help you more.

I am not saying that my experience is necessarily what is wrong with you but here is mine.

I had pain under right rib radiate through back and then it started in my stomach too.

It would be after I eat and stay about 16 hrs.

Well months went by no diagnosis finally I switch drs. I have gastroparesis (delayed stomach emptying).

which means my stomach digest too slow.

I was diagnosed by endoscopy (sp?) thats where they go down your throat into your stomach with a scope.

There is medicine and and if it is too severe for the med to correct then there is also a diet.

I was told that pain meds can make this condition worse.

Best wishes [Smile]

This is OFF the TOPIC kind of. I was noticing Genevine what you said about how you felt a couple of times after your epsom salt bath, dizzy and weak.

I'd like to share an experience with all of you. A couple of years ago my daughter who has lyme (we know now) was admitted to the hospital trying not to loose her pregnancy of 24 weeks. One of the problems besides others was that she was contracting. The major drug they gave at that time to stop contractions was Magnesium Sulfate, it is just another form of the Mag we all need. What I thought was so fascinating about that even way back then before we had knowledge of lyme, is that my daughters body sucked up the Mag, used it right up so that only very low levels could be detected in her blood. Doc was at a total loss for an explanation. The more he gave her, the less they could find in her blood. She was eventually given the max dose and ONLY given to a woman of very, very large size. Still it would disappear. They couldn't dare give her any more. Apparently there is a point with even Magnesium that it can kill you, like in relax your heart to much. Don't worry this was a massive dose by IV. I wouldn't worry, I don't think it is possible to consume enough by mouth.

Symptoms expected when receiveing this Mag Sulfate is blurred vision and severe headache. She had none of that, nor did it stop the contractions. Our itty bitty girl was born by emergency C section at 26 1/2 weeks, weighing 1lb 15oz., 13 inches long. Not to worry she is abosuletly perfect and normal, after 3 months in intensive care.

Anyway, back to lyme and Mag sulfate. A month or so ago I was at the drug store and there was this huge display of Epsom salt, very large bags. In very large letters it said, Magnesium sulfate, same stuff they used to stop pre term contractions....they use Epsom Salt. Who would have thought it?

Now I don't know how much Epsom Salt we absorb through the skin during a detox bath, but it makes me wonder. Do some of us with Lyme soak it up at a more accelerated rate then might the normals, similar to how my daughters body sucked it up, I now believe the reason for that to be because of a serious Mag depletion due to Lyme.

I too feel not so good after taking a detox bath, weak and dizzy. Just some thoughts rolling around in my head.

I would ask your doc for Magnesium injections! They really work well. :-)
