Until my 16 year old dog got sick 2 days ago. Didn't matter that it hurt me to be with him.....I had to be there for him so I didn't even think of my pain.
Dh yelled at me when he found me laying on the hard floor in the kitchen, while the pup was on a cushy blanket. I was saying goodbye and no one was going to stop me.
Little Sammy, my 16 year old, heart of gold, black cocker died yesterday. Today, I can't move again. It was worth it to be his mom and caretaker on his last day.
This heart loss hurts worse than the lyme. I still can't catch my breathe since losing him. I forgot how love can hurt so much..........I miss him. One minute, I think I'm ok, and then I totally lose it.
I remember someone saying tears were detox and if so, I should beat this lyme more quickly. I'm a faucet.

poorhouse, I'm sorry for your pain.
Someone wrote that all the animals you've loved will be waiting for you in heaven. I sure hope so.

Poorhouse, I'm so sorry for your loss. I have have a black cocker spaniel, and he is the best dog I have ever had.
I'm so sorry you're hurting. I say you should just let yourself cry as much as you want, and do something nice for yourself. I'm so sorry, I hope you feel better soon.

Poorhouse, Just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss and pain.
I don't know if this will help, but Sylvia Brown(psychic) wrote book about our animals and how they are waiting for us on the other side.
It might give you some comfort during this difficult time.

Isnt it one of the saddest facts of life that our pets live such short lives compared to ours? I'm very sorry you lost your friend.
My dogs and cat are part of my recovery process! I have always had pets that live very long lives and it is devastating when they are gone. Hugs to you, Cindy

I'm crying now thinking of you with your dog in his last hours. It meant everything to him!!
It is so hard to say goodbye and I do seem to feel better after a good cry.
I'm glad you were able to be there for him.

I'm so sorry, Poorhouse. That's the hardest thing. One of my favorite sayings: "Striving to be as wonderful as my dog thinks I am."

Hi,
I feel your pain as I have had many fury family members throughout my life. They are the gold in which we pan for each day....
We seek something to make our lives better, we work through sweat, blood and tears, and yet the answer is right before us....PETS!
I love animals more than I do most people, that is a fact!
Do not put your faith and trust in those who proclaim to see the world beyond, but rather in he who has given us the world in which we live.
Thanks,

My sympathies to you and glad you were able to be with your dog at the end.
Please go to TREEPATROL'S NEWBIE LINKS on top of medical. At the end of his hundreds of links are SYMPATHY POEMS I put on here, plus someone added the PET POEM several days ago. Sorry, I can't remember their name.

I am so sorry you lost your dog.
I know how you feel. A few years ago, I lost a cat she was 19.5 years old. They never stay with us long enough.
When I lost her I thought I was gonna die. The pain my gut was awful.(lets just say I woulda preffered a gullbladder attack)
But trust me as time goes by it gets easier. You never stop missing them but eventually when you think of them you will not longer break into tears..
but you will break into a smile remembering all the good times you had.
Best wishes

Poorhouse,
I'm so sorry for your loss. All three of my dogs just said a prayer for you and Sammi.
I also have heard said that all your pets are waiting for you on the other side. Also, that their souls are so pure that they go straight there.
Having had so many animals in my life, I know the pain of the end. I'm nursing my beloved Maggie mutt as we speak and I know she won't be around much longer.
It is so sweet that you stayed with her and they know how much you love them. It sounds like she had a great life with you.
Hugs and sloppy kisses from the 3 mutts in Illinois!

My dogs are the only people who really get me. I would be lost without their love and understanding.
One is training to be a therapy dog...They are like little angels.
I am saying a prayer for you during this awful time. Love and to you today.

I am so sorry for your loss. Lost our 14 year old doberman a few weeks ago. The pain gets better as you walk through the grief, but it's not picnic
My heart is with you. You gave your friend a beautiful day, you selflessly cared for him as he cared for you. Have peace with that, and know that you blessed him.

My heart aches for you, our four legged friends are the few souls that still love us even with the lyme.
I don't know where I would be without my two little boys.
Keep that love in your heart. Know that you were a good human mommy right to the end of the bridge on this side of life.
A new bridge will exist where we will all be together no pain, no tears, no lyme, no heartache.
Someday.
God Bless you. Stay strong.

I just think that dog was lucky to have had you to live with. And for 16 years, that is a wonderful long doggie life!
I hope you feel better soon. Tears are good for you right now.

hi tothepoorhouse
I am so very sorry for your lose. I lost my goldon "tracy" 5 years ago and it broke my heart. She was the light of my life.I still Think of her everyday. I can still feel her around me sometimes.
Here is a true story that helped me.(other than alot of crying) and time
from the book by Scott S. Smith
"Evidence for the survival of animals in the after life"
In 1992,Dina Andrews,a veterinarin, was asked to go to on a house call to check on an older white horse with colic and intestional problems.
After treating the horse she provided the owners with follow-up instructions and suggested they seperate the ill animal from it's compainion.
The owner's looked at Dr. Andrews in bewilderment: they did not have another horse. The vet looked back where she had seen the other horse but it had disappeared.
As dr. Andrews described it,however, the owner's recognized the horse which had recently died.
Dr Andrew's,now a faculty member at Purdue University School of Med,obviously had no personal attachment to the deceased horse.
I do believe their spirits come back to visit us and they will come barking and run up to us in the next world to welcome us there.
may you find some inner peace in place of your pain soon Posted by Yemaya (Member # 8842) on :
Now your fur babie is your fur angel. You offered your pain up to be with him in his time of need. As I am sure he was for you.
I bet he is still with you by your side in spirit as he was in life. Sorry for your loss. Many blessings for you and your pup.
