My doc started me on a once day dose just to see how I would react before we added more. I started on 250MG of zith and 500 of ceftin.
I noticed after several days that I got trembling in my arms that made them feel somewhat uncoordinated. It seemed to start 1 - 1.5 hours after I took the combo every day. The antiobiotic also made me feel VERY anxious (I dont normally feel anxiety) and it also made my tongue very red and sore. I stopped on day 10.
I tried just taking the zithromax only but same response.
I wonder if anyone else has had trembling or the other symptoms. This does not bode well for me....

I've had trembly arms and I can sympathize with you -- it certainly is not a good feeling.
Mine were caused when I took a strong allergy medicine, so I'm not sure if antibiotics can cause it.
Hopefully, someone will come along with a better response for you.

My leggs and voice can, from time to time shake also.
It is a hard symptom to take. It will pass with time
******But you should call your doctor and tell him right away because the lyme & abx can fiddle with alot of things to cause this.

Maybe it's a herx. I went through a very shaky, trembly period before I started abx. It mostly cleared up after abx treatment.
Just a thought. They say herxs can bring up new symptoms that you haven't had before.

Notice the reply's. Now, click on the person's name. Notice where they come from. Now go back and read the responses. For people south of Maryland, the shakes come with antibiotic therapy.
Other areas of the country, they seem to be un connected.
I'm also from the South, and the same thing happened to me. Its a good reaction, no one has studied it extensivly, but from my own records, of which I keep extensivly, this is a very good sign and pertains to nerve communication.
I think the most likely case to be made is that this particular "herx" happens with an alarming frequency in the south as compared to other areas of the country, and perhaps the world
Also, my mother has the same thing in response to effective antibiotics, also, she lives in the south, and has not traveled elsewhere.
Hang in there, the movements are not bad, and they will reduce with time. Remember that they are a physically demonstrable sign of improvment.

I read in the following post that tremors, shakes, and spasms may be caused by bacteria dying near, hench irritating, a nerve which controls motion.
I have Motor Tic Disorder from Lyme. One of the symptoms is that my hend trembles or shakes. Basically it moves back and forth very quickly.
My tics started before I was diagnosed and before I was on abx. The first incident was when I was on Effexor, and antidepressant that reduces pain for people with fibromyalgia. My diagnosis at the time. It stopped shortly after stopping the Effexor.
It did start again during treatment, then stopped again. It has recently gotten much worse, and that is when the shaking/trembling started. I was only on amoxycillin at the time, and not enough to kill the Lyme. It did get worse with Flagyl.
An integrative medicine specialsit today suggest I take sublingual B-12. We'll see how that goes. I think it's better than the Haldol the neurologist suggested.

I'm in the north. When I'm on tetracycline I get kind of shaky & have vibrating feelings starting shortly after I take it and continuing for an hour or longer. It is worst in the morning, not as bad with the evening dose. Eating high fat foods helps make me less shaky.
I think the trembling is a herx.

I agree with what has been said about the trembling. Abx can cause an increase in symptoms(a herx) and new ones to appear.
But..... the red sore tongue sounds like candidia yeast. Are you on any probotics? Acidophilus, Nystatin, Caprylic acid, Grapefruit seed extract? Anything to kill yeast and replace your good bacteria?
Plus you have to watch your diet.... stay away from sugars, bread, anything made with yeast, & wheat (because of the mold)
