Ok,

I think i found something, i dont know what it means.

My WBC on Sept 13, 2005 drawn at the ER when i had no clue about Lyme, and my tongue felt numb and swollen/trouble swallowing and panic sensations)

WBC on that nite was 8.9

2 weeks later my duck runs labs and it was 4.7 :-(

so in that 2 weeks i know i got a lot worse...but what does this mean. i know there have been posts about low WBC and relation to lyme.

Would it drop at onset or when the ketes take over?

i know i was bit in 2000 and im going to call my dr who ran labs then to get my file to see what the WBC was back then.

Thanks for your replies- on days when i feel hopeless i look at my labs...and today i think i foud 'something'

I also know low wbc indicates viral infection.

Hello.

I had the same situation as you. When I first started getting symptoms (tingling in fingers/feet) i had blood drawn- WBC 5.4.

Then it dropped to 3.6 2 weeks later. I am guessing it could gradually go down as your immune system is weakened from the lyme.

I do not have a lyme dx yet and i haven't spoken to anyone about this so i don't know for sure. I am sure if you bring it up to your Primary dr., they will say, "if you had lyme your WBC would be high due to the infection."

but that is not the case, because i don't even think your body is aware lyme is an infection- it is so smart and good at transforming and hiding. But yes, LLMDs have said that lyme will cause a low to borderline WBC.

Pru i live in PA...were you bit in NJ,

we have some similar symptoms (see your nail post)

i fired my first duck who missed the lyme...he would say its nothing.

Its scary that it could drop so quickly...i looked at that report and said geez i WAS healthy.

thanks for your reply

Hey y'all, just joined and this was the first topic i saw-but I came for answers not more
questions!!!!!!!!

Like is my WBC low because of Lyme? as is my RBC

.newly diagnosed with Chronic Lyme days ago-next appointment is this coming wednesday-and I am an impatient patient !

I want answers NOW-I don't want to wait. AND I want to be WELL NOW-not going to happen I know-but I am to return with my list of questions

- once I am over being shell shocked.

Someday I will have answers for others-right??????? I did wonder why both blood counts were low ?

Quess I'll just have to add this one to my list and WAIT until I see doc. will be glad to let you know once I find out.

Peace out, Carol

Hi Carol! That impatience will come back to haunt you....You have to learn to "chill" with this disease!! [bonk]

If your RBC is low, be sure to ask your dr about testing for coinfections...especially babesia.

Welcome!! [Smile]

Doc says 90% of her patients have

co-infections ! And I will be tested-but the tests

are so expensive and my journey has just

begun-we are trying to decide what co-inf to

test for first-she suspects bartonella .

I'm a little short on patience right now since I

have been questioning a slew of so called

specialist if my various health issues could be Lyme related-and they brushed me off.

So this is where I have come to learn to kick back and put things in perspective.

Basicaly I am still in the freak out stage and worried about what course this is all going to take.

I do know anger and impatience are not going

to help the healing process and I'll get myself

together eventually.

Thanks, Carol

Take a look at Dr Bs guideline of symptoms list for co-infections. Low white counts can be connected also directly to Erhlichia. Prior to being treated for erhlichia my WBC were 3. If you are having problems with RBC start to suspect Babs. My white counts have gone up to a higher steady level but we do still see them drop from time to time.

I get the impression I will be stuck a lot for

blood work-both from these posts and my doc

And because other stuff is askew .Oh well

. Doesn't bother me-

-just trying to get used to a new way of life

with Lyme ! But at least it is now getting used

to the treatment process instead of the frustrating diagnosis process.

I feel fortunate that the diagnosis showed up in neon lights-once I found an LLMD.

Til tomorrow, Carol

so, i got my lab results today from last month...my WBC went up and is now 6.9. I was stunned. The homeopathic dr i went to see said that it doesnt mean all that much (not too sure about that one)

the day the blood draw was done i was herxing like mad...and felt like i was dying. who knows.

its all a mystery to me.
