Hi,
I have had Lyme since 1993(bulls-eye rash and tick bite) and probably was first infected in 1986(odd rashes that looked like metiorites flashing through the sky all over my back-flu-like symptoms). I have a positive PCR.

I have been treated twice over the years. The first time in 1997 with orals and IV's for a year. I was fine for 4 years and then it came back in 2002 and have been treated with orals and IV's off and on ever since. I am now in remission again.

Lyme and or the treatments have left me infertile. IV Levaquin slam-dunked me into menopause a year ago.

Now that I am finally feeling better and am on the road up the mountain rather than down, we are considering egg donor embryo transfer invitro fertilization.

Any advice pros or cons would be greatly appreciated. My husband, the sperm donor, has also been treated for Lyme. Although I will not be carrying my own embryo, what are the risks to the fetus and could my husband be a factor in transmitting Lyme to the Embryo.

Thank you

Im bumping this up for you. I really don't have any experience with invetro. I did however have a baby while being infected with Lyme. I didn't know it was Lyme at the time though.

I am happy to report that she is 2 years old and very healthy!! I had a good pregnancy too and no complications.

I was wondering how you know that levaquin put you into menapause? I have been worried that I am going through early menopause, but my dr's seem too laugh at that possiblity. Saying I am way too young (hence the early).

I have given up my hope to have children, now I just want to have hormones.

I don't know about Lyme and pregnancy but I know a lot about embryo transplants if you have any questions. A lot.

The day they put me on Levaquin my normal period stopped and the hot flashes began and I have never had a period since.

Prior to this over the previos 12 years whenever my Lyme infection was accelerating my periods would slow down. As soon as I started ABX treatments my normal periods would resume.

In your opinion how successful are egg donor embryo transfers. We would really like to have a baby! The initial out of pocket expense will be about $10,000 followed by another $5,000 in costs. Is it worth it?
