Hey there people --

Yeah, yeah, I'm still alive.

Long time since I last posted. My apologies - like the rest of you - I'm still sick and staying too @#$% busy.

I have an idea to share, but first have a request:

WHERE ARE THE STUDIES LINKING ALS & LYME??

I know it has been said that ALS is really undiagnosed chroinc late-stage Lyme.

OK - so where did that come from? What studies substantiate that?

I'd like anyone who knows to provide me with as many links as possible.

NOW, for my thoughts:

The Lyme Community is always looking for SOMEONE of a celebrity status to support our 'cause'.

The problem, of course, is that not many celebrities WITH LYME want to come out and say, "I have Lyme" because it tends to make one a bit unemployable.

But Hollywood has recently suffered a loss and I think we need to provide what info we have to those who worked with him & loved him.

Scott Brazil - of 'Hill Street Blues' fame died recently according to respiratory complications of ALS and Lyme. Naturally - most are going to look at the situation of his death as a result of the ALS -- & most will not give the Lyme a second thought.

I hate to feel like we are trying to 'take advantage' of this loss that is felt within his community of family, friends, and co-workers - but perhaps by using this as an opportunity to use his death to MAKE A DIFFERENCE - then it wouldn't feel distasteful.

My idea is that we educate these people. We send our sympathy, and we also send them loads of info until we start convincing them.

Here's the deal - Brazil wasn't just the producer of 'Hill Street Blues' and that was it.

He currently worked on the show, 'The Shield' and also worked on other shows in various capacities:

According to the CNN article,
quote:
Brazil also directed episodes of "Nip/Tuck," "Grey's Anatomy," "CSI: Miami," "NCIS," "JAG," "Nash Bridges" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He also directed the pilot of "Playmakers" for ESPN.
Brazil won many Hollywood awards -- he was well known in the industry.

He was a fellow Lyme patient regardless of whether he knew the EXTENT of the involvement Lyme truly played in his overall health picture.

I say we don't let the TRUE CAUSE of his death go unnoticed!

We can lovingly & compassionately reach out to some of these Hollywood types and try to communicate with them -- appeal to their sense of compassion, and give them an opportunity to hop on the 'bandwagon' of THIS most worthy cause...shining a LIGHT on the disease called Lyme.

We can do it through what few addresses we can find....and we can also do it through the MEDIA

Right now, I think the ALS/Lyme connection would be considered 'timely' in the media...but we would have to move fast. Other stories are always vying for top billing.

What do you think?

Please send ALS/Lyme research.

Thanks,

Do you think anyone would ever get permission to have Lou Gherig's body exumed and tested for Bb spirochetes? Would they still show in an autopsy?

Now wouldn't that be a medical breakthrough!

I hope you have great success in getting the research into the right hands as far as hollywood!

We need people to WAKE UP to the reality of this!

Hey y'all -

Thanks for your replies and great info & links.

It will take me awhile to work through some of this and it may not pan out - don't know how successful I'll be in making contact - but it sure would be good if OTHERS (esp. those with eperience with BOTH diseases) could attempt contact and provide info and personal anecdotes.

It was just an idea.

Thanks!

Hugs & [kiss]
