Like the rest of you, I am having a hard time getting IM bicillin. Will have to pay out of pocket, and likely try to find a US doc to see me to get this treatment.
Please, your opinion.
If I am to do either one, which one do you think is most effective? My problems are mainly neurological and cognitive, and my emotional lability or whatever they call it, is getting my supportive boyfriend really freaked. He inferred that he can't take my mood changes much longer.
Don't think I blame him. But this is so darned hard.
Opinions on IM bicillin or rocephtin please...

What about how you feel. Some people who don't have or have never had it don't know what it feels like to walk in you shoes.

I think for IM, Bicillan LA is the recommended option since it has a longer lasting effect than rocephine.
You can also do IV rocephine with only a peripheral catheter. The PICC is only for convienence.
ON THE OTHER HAND
Why IV or IM at all? Most Dr's start out with orals neurologic problems or not, and only go to IV/IM if they don't work. In fact Some Dr's NEVER go to IV at all. Results vary but a lot of people seem to do OK on the Orals, even though it takes a longer time than the orals. neurological probems are extremely common (likely in all cases). It is just the level of the symtoms that varies.

You can do them both at the same time. I did them both, just not every day Bicillin was 3x a week and Rocephin was 2 days back to back then a break. Your protocol might be different, ask your doctor. Rocephin did make me have anger and Lyme rages from the herxing. You might ask your doctor about a mood stabilizer like zoloft, and xanax to get you through the neurological herxes. Have your boyfriend read Dr. Bransfield's articles on Lyme and neurological issues. It will help him, and you, gain understanding.
Wildcondor makes a very good point. Ask your doctor about mood stabilizers. Bicilllin helped me significantly with neurological symptoms but I developed severe depression while on it. Wellbutrin made all the difference. Looking back I should've started it sooner than I did.

I have had this a long time and can NEVER seem to get it in my head what to do. Learning and retaining information is not with me much anymore.
But I must take the reins, if I am to get better. I should go to my LLMD with a plan of action I Want instead of dickering around. I just have to figure out what I want!
The idea of Wellbutrin seems logical now.
