i could not take flagy, biaxin, allergic to doxy and tetra, so my llmd has given me amoxycillian at 500 twice a day.
i've noticed that others are taking a much higher dosage. she believes that this dosage for six months will be sufficient.
i have noticed a reduction in some symptoms but have some days that really suck!!
also one thing is very strange. you know those petruchia, little red dots on the body. well they appear to be getting smaller.
so bottom line, two questions:
1. do you think this dosage is ok and for six months
2. why are those petruchia getting smaller?

Hi, I was on Amoxy for 8 months at 5 grams/day after my IV treatment. Are you taking Probenicid also? All the LLMDs strongly say you should in conjunction with plain Amoxy to keep it in your system longer(as compared to Augmentin XR which is a longer lasting form of Amoxy)
The oral ABX which has worked the best by far for me is Ketek, have you tried that yet? As for the little red dots , I had them for awhile when I was at 6 gms/day, just reduced my dose for a few days and they went away, never came back. Good luck on your health but I think you may need Tindimax or some other combo besides just Amoxy to get all the way back.

1,000mg a day won't touch lyme.
My 6 year old is on that dose plus Zithromax.
In my opinion not near enough.

I think eveyone is different. If your LLMD feels this is a good dose for you, then stick with it. I personally cant tolerate a large amount of antibiotics so I am actually on a childs dose of amoxycillin.
My LMD says its because I have a huge bacteria load and big amounts of meds make me way too sick.

Hey there! I was just diagnosed a couple of months ago after almost 3 yrs. of symptoms! I'm pregnant and was when I first got tested, so the doc could only put me on Amoxicillin (spell?) for the duration of my pregnancy. Granted, when you are pregnant you can flare (I know I do!!), but I'm only on 500mg tid and I'm still having some flares... I know it's mostly to prevent my baby from getting this via the placenta, but I will have to go doxy or something else stronger, b/c it's not getting rid of it for sure!!!

I have been on amoxy 1000 mg 3x a day for many months. During this period, I basically had a relapse.
My LLMD never thought the amoxy alone would get the lyme, she thought the lyme was gone and was targetting salmonella.

3000 mg. a day of Amoxicillin (spread over three doses) + 500mg of Probenecid with each dose.
I believe this is in line with Dr. Burrascano's Guidelines.
Plus Biaxin XL 1000 mg/day.
I made a lot of progress last year on this, with various other things added to the Amoxy/Probenecid.

What is going on with that tiny dose? Do you have a doctor? Doses are normally from 3,000- 16,000 mg per day of Amoxicillin. Are you on Probencid? Augmentin> with it?

I did experiment with Amoxy big time.
I had tinny little herx on dose 3 g/day. Later every weak I had increased the dose by a gram or two. Each time there was an additional herx. I went up to 27 g/day for a few weeks.
Still was not cured, although I am sure that many bugs had been killed and some improvement achieved.
Amoxy cannot kill anything other than spirochete so the Bb infection will go on.

wow 27 grams. That's like 54 pills of amoxi a day. Can you get to the point where you take too much of ABX ... can you immune system depend too much on ABXs if you take too much? just a question.

Amoxy is rather safe and complications are very rare and usually reversible when stopped.
Other ABx can be dangerous.
I have read a story of guy who took 36 g of Amoxy per day, so I am not the winner. Usually you are safe if you drink enough water.
