Hello,
I've seen Biaxin combined with Ceftin, but I can't add that in due to a drug interaction with my anticonvulsant.

Do any of you have experience with any other antibiotic combined with Ceftin?

Thanks,
Ms. Myo

flagyl or tinnidazole.

I honestly think I got rid of lyme with rocephin & flagyl followed by ceftin and tinidazole.

Then had to deal with co-infections; bartonella...

Ceftin is one of the few 2nd generation cephalasporins which DOES cross the blood brain barrier effectively. Cephalasporins kill the adult stages of lyme. Flagyl and tinidazole kills the cyst stages (eggs).

Omnicef is more popular than ceftin but omnicef does NOT cross the bbb in effective doses. Ceftin is better IMHO...

It may be easier to add flagyl or tinidazole after being on cephalasporins for a little bit- may be easier after the blood brain barrier has healed somewhat. That was my experience any way.

I took ceftin (2g - 2x@day), azithromycin(500mg) and mepron (1tsp, 2x@day) at the same time. It was really expensive and the ceftin was hard on the stomach.

I ended up switching to ketek & mepron.

It would really depend on what you were taking the ceftin for. My husband took it for 3 months with flagyl.

Thanks to those who responded. I did a more thorough search of the board and came up with more combos:

rifampin and ceftin
doxycycline and ceftin
minocycline and ceftin
ketek and ceftin

Why do you feel the need to add in another antibiotic? Is the Ceftin not working? May want to think about why, if it isn't, before adding more meds.

One step at a time. Your body will let you know what works and what doesn't, if you give it time. I am not a big fan of mixing up too many meds. My body doesn't like the bombardment. But, that's just me.

I took Ceftin alone for about 6 months then added rifampin to deal with newly diagnosed Bartonella.

I've had no problems with either and have seen significant improvement.
