for the last few months, aside from my slight reddened cheeks, i have some bruising under my eyes, like where dark circles are.. it is faint and purple, very weird. no one really could notice it, but it's there.. has anyone ever experienced anything like this?
thanks, michelle

I have that too - people sometimes comment that I have black eyes but I dont. I had an allergist tell me that they are "allergy shiners" and they are the result of capillary leakage under the thin skin in that area - basically oxidized blood.
The only thing that I have found lightens them is to stick the a 'clean' diet and do as much detox as possible (saunas, epsom salt baths, etc).

Hi I have "black eyes" often, usually when I am feeling worse than usual. I first noticed it long before my Lyme was diagnosed or treated. Of course all the docs said "you are normal" and claimed it was nothing, not to worry, blah blah......
but I KNEW it had something to do with whatever was making me feel sick (Lyme it turns out)since I felt horrible at exactly the same time the area all around my eyes turned dark.
Thanks for bringing this up, first time I have ever heard of it from someone else.

yes, i get bruised undereye areas (and even on the eye lids) but usually only if i cough hard or sneeze or if i have the flu causing me to throw up. somehow, the weakened capillaries burst with sharp head movement, giving me what looks like a minor black eye for several days. it's really annoying!
when i don't get enough sleep or am going through a bad detox period i get lighter darkish areas under my eyes. very different from the broken capillaries, more like a shadow under the eye. a couple doctors have told me this is allergy or toxin-related.
