I am back on abx after mostly recovering from LD.

I recently developed urine retention and ended up in the ER needing to be cathed because I could not void at all.

The doc suggested that I leave with a foley cath until I could see a urologist but I was in so much dicomfort with the cath that I chose not to and he prescribed Flomax.

It has been several hours and I have been drinking water trying to flush out my system but am only able to void a small abount.

Has anyone had similar problems with LD? Has anything helped?

I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I have had similar problems but not as bad as you.

First where you tested for a UTI?

Also this could be IC....you might want to check out the site

www.ic-network.com do a search on there and see if there are similar posts.

I know for me the hesitancy i have is related to my pelvic floor muscles.

This also could be a herx for you. How long have you been on the abx? what abx are you taking?

this could also be a side affect of abx or other meds you are taking.

Anticholinergic meds could cause this -- includes everything from Benadryl to Atropine to Artane and many more.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't been out of bed since I posted so I'm thinking this could be a herx.

I've been referred to a urologist (fun, huh? I've been that route several years ago and had polyps removed from my bladder. They want to check for IC.

I'm taking several meds for different sx. Abx are Biaxin and Ethro., Neurontin for insomnia and chronic pain. Ambien as well for insomnia. Relafin and flexeril for chronic pain but the flexeril was d/c's by the er doc as a possible contributing factor for the urine retention. I had this problem quite a while ago and is was determined to be caused by benadryl.

I am able to pee now (Yeah!) but still have lower abdominal pain.

I'm now convinced that this is a herx because of such low energy, flu-like symptoms and severe depression.

im glad you are able to pee again!!

my bladder is flaring again, the thing with the bladder is its tough to tell if its a herx or a reaction to food.....it gets frustrating.

im having my hydro/cysto next week....im scared, but i hope it shows something or they give me some kind of med.

Ive taken so many azo since october its crazy.
