Just wondering if i can still take this amount of drugs. I take 300Mg Mino, 500Mg Zith, 400Mg Plenquenil, and the Bicillin 1.2 shot 3 times a week. Does this sound like too much? Has anyone done this before?

That is a lot of antibiotics, more than I've every been on at one time. What does you LLMD say?

Sounds like you'd better be prepared for a MAJOR herx. Did your LLMD prescribe all of these for you? I've been on two abx continuously, but 4 at one time is a lot.

Also, be sure you're taking plenty of probiotics. You're going to need them. Let us know how you fare on this protocol.

Yeah, I think it's too much. 3 different drugs at the same time is pushing it. 4 is over the line. Nobody knows how this combo of drugs all the the same time will effect each other. Maybe it will be good, maybe not. If your Dr says to do it, I would at least cut back to 2 shots a week instead of 3.

My adult son is taking Malarone, Plaquenil, Zmax and Bicillin injections two times a week. He just started on the Bicillin and zmax this week. Hoping he can tolerate all of this.

Everyone has different opinions on these drugs, and responds in different ways. So although I know what it's like to just want someone to write down their !@#!**# opinion already, there is no right answer for everyone.

I've taken everything you are on except bicillin, so here's my personal opinion:

1. Go down to 50mg of minocycline for at least a week. If you don't see serious side effects, cautiously work your way up to 200mg/day. The dosage you are on is guaranteed to cause the worst herx in all creation, and can lead you to develop sensitivity or intolerance to minocycline. I was on 400mg/day for two weeks, and developed severe, permanent side effects.

2. Substitute ketek for zithromax, but make sure you are taking at least two liver support supplements (three or four would be better) and a good probiotic and yeast inhibitor. Diflucan for yeast may have some drug interactions with ketek, but nystatin is okay. Some liver supports are milk thistle, schizandra, N-acetyl cysteine, phosphatidylcholine, CoQ10, selenium, and alpha lipoic acid. I've only seen schizandra used in combination with other herbs, not taken by itself, but it's actually one of the most powerful liver supports.

3. Drop the plaquenil, since it is prescribed as a companion drug that supposedly boosts the strength of biaxin and zithromax. Ketek is more advanced than both these drugs--they are all in the macrolide family--and doesn't need plaquenil.

4. Do a lot more research. It does not sound like you know nearly enough about the drugs you are taking. The antibiotic combinations used in the Lyme community change rapidly, and doctors vary their approaches a great deal. Research can mean reading lots of Lymenet posts, or even better, going outside of Lymenet and reading about these drugs in other places. Like plaquenil is a malaria drug, and minocycline is an acne treatment. Plaquenil can cause vision problems, even blindness, when taken once a week. So if you are going to take it at high doses every day, at least be informed about the risk you are taking.
