Probably a silly question, but is there any reason to NOT cook with wine when taking ketek or any other abx that is not compatible with alcohol?
P.S. LOL don't know how to change the title, but see now that it looks like I'm asking about cooking with alcohol AND ketek. I don't intend to cook with the Ketek!!

I'd go for it. Life is too short to be too harsh on yourself. Boy, I miss my wine at dinner. But I find I get really spacey with even a 1/2 glass.
I thought the big problem with alcohol was when taking flaygl or tini.

Well, I wouldn't drink it as I can't tolerate alcohol anyway and would not risk it with ketek......but I THINK when you cook with wine it cooks out ALL the alcohol, which is basically waht I'm trying to find out.

Ketek au jus! Yummy
If you are on Flagyl, I wouldn't chance it. But if not, then it should be ok. I had a drink now and then on Ketek.

When my daughter was on Flagyl, I told my husband she couldn't eat a dish he was making because it had wine in it. He thought I was crazy because all the alcohol would cook out. Then, he went to a USDA website (I think) and found that some significant percent (maybe 20% or so, but please don't trust my memory) of the alcohol remains after cooking. Interesting to know. I always thought all the alcohol cooks out too.
That said, Ketek is not Flagyl; I wouldn't worry about cooking with wine while on Ketek.
