It has only been 4 days getting it in. No redness or anything funny looking about it that would make me think infection.
How long can I expect it to feel tender to the touch?

I've had my PICC line for about a month now and there are still tender moments. Try to forget about it. I guess I'm lucky in that I'm allergic to tegaderm so I have something calle primapore over my line. It provides a lot of padding and extra protection.

Mine was for about a good week. At first every feeling you get from it freaks you out but as long as there is no redness you should be fine. It might even bleed a little bit. No worries. But you should keep asking just to be on the safe side.

took about a week for it to feel less noticible to me. If you're concerned, always check with your doctor.

I believe I may be allergic to the tagaderm. It itchess around the edges and is red around the edges. If I pull that piece off it feels better.
I will be telling the nurse when she comes Wed. to change me. I remember hubby couldn't use tagaderm either.
It really seems to be that the tape is bothering me more then the line.
Thanks All

Ask for primapore, or something comprable. Tegaderm absolutely kills me aroud my PICC site. I have scars from having it on for 3 days. It peeled (actually did a melting effect) all of my skin right off.
You can't see the insertion site with primapore, but I don't miss looking at mine. It breaths, and is very friendly to my sensitive skin, which is even allergic to the paper tape (which is apparently very rare).
