Do you know if I have to take the DOXY at the same time everyday. If so, I find this very difficult because my schedule is so eradic.
The notations from the pharm do not specify.

I think it is important to space the drugs as equally as possible to maintain consistent blood levels.

Each time I switch drugs I work out a schedule that allows me to take them correctly. If they are meant to be taken with food it is really important to eat a meal to protect your stomach.

Taking my drugs at the right time is the most important part of my schedule.

When I was on tetracycline I took it 20 mins before meals. It made me feel bad for at least an hour afterward. Taking it at dinner was screwing up my evening aftivities. I switched the schedule so I had a small dinner, then after my evening activities I would have a big snack or the other 1/2 of my dinner and take the pills aound 10pm. I would then need to stay up at least an hour before laying down. I usually stayed up much later and then slept later in the am. This way the pills were evenly spaced and my evening wasn't ruined

When travelling I plan ahead to have food & water with me so I can take my pills. When I have messed up the schedule I feel worse.

So, try to find a way that works for you.

Equal spacing is best.

Yes, I know but does it have to be at the exact same time everyday?

No it does not need to be at the same time every day. I read someone in the tons of information on this site...

that it is best to take 400mg at one time, not spacing it out to create an even blood level. Doxy crosses the blood brain barrier only at high levels,

therfor it is better to take 2 pills at once.

As long as your meds are spaced at least 6 hours apart, it doesn't matter. You just don't want it to be too hard on your liver.

Hope this helps,
Dani

lca,

I disagre with Dani; it is supposed to be taken at 2 different times daily about 12 hrs. apart. NOT THE SAME TIME DAILY. I have WIERD sleep patterns & I'm not getting up during a sound sleep to take a pill! [cussing]

Mine is either within 1 hour before to 1 hr. after for difference.

I've been on doxy since 8-04 PULSED w/biaxin...
3 days on 1; 2 days off; then 3 days on biaxin; 2 days off, and then back on doxy.

This is the most effective way. [Big Grin]

Thanks,
Well for whatever it is worth, I do not think

that I am having much effect from doxy. I am on

200 mg daily, up to 300 mg daily next tuesday.

Doc P. wants to take it slow due to the spine

lesions (cervical).

The most I had was a really bad head ache

which is non-specific and variable, and there is

no way to tell if doxy has anything to do with

it. I had one day where I felt great, others not

so great. My malaise is annoying, but I am

generally a depressed person circumstantially.

Again, I have the hallmark signs of MS such

as the brain lesions (ovoid, periventricular), c-

spine lesions, onset seems to be 26, but

remember foot numbness/vertigo age 20. I am from

an MS belt state, Washington. It just seems that

MS is probable here. I dx myself as LD and was

right according to Dr. P, who said it was Lyme,

only to find out that only 1 band was positive.

I have assisted 3 people in getting a

Parkinson's DX changed to a LD dx. I remember

what seemed to be a tick imbedded in my nail for

several weeks years ago..when I was late

teens/early twenties. Never tested until this

year.

I am starting to think that I am damned. And,

the worst part is that I only had 1 clear start

and stop, the second start never stopped things

waxed and waned, and then new symptoms popped

up, others went away.

This stuff is nuts, and despite my 63 page

pathogenesis (self written) and convinving

myself that it was LD; I am starting to wonder.

I have also been treated badly.

I went to see a new general doctor here in

Seattle, Doctor LOU of Kent (he deserves his

name stated) who refused to see me as a general

patient because "LD is too controversial." I

told him, "I am not seeing you for LD, only for

general problems that are non-specific to LD and

have nothing to do with it, i.e. high blood

pressure, weight gain, to name a few." He

refuses to treat me.

I am just torn.

John.

Thanks,
What about sleep? If I get no sleep, my legs are fatigued as well as arms. What does that mean? I heard this happens to MS patients?

I never said to take it once a day. I said to take your 2-200 mg pills at one time, and then again later at a seperate time. My point is that it DOES NOT need to be taken at the exact same time evryday, just as long as it is taken at intervals far enough apart to not hurt your liver.

If you look in the newbie links, under DrBs treatment guidelines, it states that Doxy is only effective at HIGH BLOOD LEVELS

Sorry for the confusion, I hope this make s sense. In my brain fog, it is difficult to try to express myself clearly.
