My 41 band was ++ Isn't it true that VERY few other diseases or viruses would cause this. If you test negative for syphillis, why would this not be very indicative of lyme? From the research i have done this band is spirochete specific, and very few spriocetes exist.
Thanks for any input... i know an absololute positive is not positive with bloodwork, but want to make sure I am going down the right path with lymes.

41 is well known to be present in a large percentage of the population. It is related to flagelin, the whip like things that many bacteria have. The ones that lyme have are a bit diffent in that they are internal to the organism as they are for all spirocetes. There are many spirocete infections that people may have had and are now gone Including dental infections). Past infection will show up in IgG.
My take on this is if 41 is the only positive band with nothing else even showing up, you might consider some other disease process as being a higher probability than Lyme, best to look at some other things also.
There are lots of things that have the same symtoms as lyme, including some tick vectored diseases. Many of these will also respond to antibiotics. Most of these have no tests that are of any use.
Thats my take on it. I am sure some will disagree but I call it as I see it.

Thanks for your honesty. I also had a single positive 66, and an IND 39.
Is it true that IND can almost be considered positive, since they are actually seeing a line, and not an empty space?

41 is also the bar for Bartonella. I don't know how many ++'s she had because the test didn't show that, it only showed positive. She was also positive on #30.
Bartonella is all she pretty much shows up with at this time. It's a booger, too.

My LLMD said that 41 is shared by Lyme and Bartonella. That's why he believes that chronic Lyme is actually Bartonella.

Band 41 was my only positive band. It typically will be the first band to turn positive in lyme western blot.

OP - what lab?
I was very sick after my bite and didn't have any IgM positive bands and only + 41 IgG with several positive coinfections - does that mean I didn't have lyme - no I had a 650+ ASO
BTW - all my other bands were indeterminate

ASO titer is a blood test to measure anti-streptolysin O (ASO) antibodies
The ASO level is usually less than 160 Todd units per milliliter.
