If someone you know has been bitten by a deer tick and they have no knowledge of Lyme, no llmd, and are not so quick to change docs which of these scenarios is better

doc gives 10 days abx- take it or don't take it

10 days solves a lot of bacterial problems. If the Dr prescribed it why would you NOT want to take it?
While the efficacy for Lyme may be in question, it does not hurt, although it may produce "sero negativity" rendering the lyme tests as immaterial but given the fact the tests for Lyme are not very good in the first place, I don't think that matters much.

Don't forget, that even for neurological lyme the generally accepted treatment WAS 2 weeks of anti biotics, which in many cases brought about a tremendous (but maybe not lasting) improvement.

What to do is of course up to your freind and their Dr. as only they know all the details of the situation
