Just a random thought...wouldnt it be beneficial to the patient if the people in igenex the lab scored your test based on their standards instead of putting +s and -s and INDs next to numbers, some that the cdc doesnt even consider, for our stupid GPs to review using cdc standards.

its great to have the internet as a source to intrepret the igeneX test, but i mean you pay sometimes close to $1000 for these tests through IgeneX and they can't even write positive on the
damn thing.. you know your GP is going to do all in his power to call it negative. i dread calling my doctor's office to find out...

Back in 10-03 my IgeneX stated positive for IgG and Negative for IgM. This is listed right above where the bands are reported. Both tests went into a great deal of detail in the results as to how to interpret them for CDC and for their criteria which is different than CDC criteria.

I just got a IgeneX IgM western blot a few weeks ago and it show IgeneX negative and CDC negative right above the area where the bands are reported. Also, lots of details on how to interpret.

Actually my ingenex lab papers did come back stating POSITIVE
POSITIVE
with an explanation as to which bands needed to be a plus sign.

My Igenex tests are also clearly marked positive.

oh ok..

well then why does everyone post their results for intrepreting on here if they are already determined positive or negative?

Mine said IND for IGM and IGG neg

Both CDC negative

I posted my results to see if anyonelse might have had the same bands...similar symptoms etc.

I also did it for reassurance that I had lyme.

Bands are either specific to the Borellia organism or not. Many that post with questions about western blot are new to the board and don't know which bands are significant for Bb. Even LLMD's don't necessarily agree on which bands are the most significant or how many bands makes a diagnosis more probable. A person may also have questions about the significance of IgG vs IgM and what it means for diagnosis.

There is a lot of controversy about the diagnosis of lyme. Even though some state that if you have even 1 band that is less than weak (IND) and it is considered significant for Bb, then you have lyme. The truth is that you can have all negatives and have lyme disease and you can have some positive significant bands and supposedly not have lyme, so in reality, there are no tests that are accurate and in the end, one must see a LLMD to be evaluated because as I'm sure you've heard, Lyme is a clinical diagnosis.
