I see many people saying they get the burning skin sensation while treating, but has anyone had it as their first symptom, before any treatment?

Yes, this was one of my very first symptoms. It started in my feet and spread throughout my body.
Mine is more burning nerve pain but it also feels like it goes all the way up to the skin, but not just on the top of the skin. But if I'm in the sun or heat, it definitely feels like intense skin burning.
This has been the toughest symptom for my LLMD and I to treat - it's improved quite a bit but we have not knocked it out.

I had Lyme for almost 11 years before diagnosis. Burning pain and burning in the skin was an on and off again symptom during much of that time.

I knew something was wrong... thought I might have shingles but never diagnosed with it. Then while playing volleyball with my husband I must have activated a lot of "keets".
The next 3-4 days I wanted to cry. My arms felt swollen, burning, like they were going to explode. I thought maybe it was 5th's Disease (Parvo) or Sjogrens. X-rays showed nothing. Had lyme test which fortunately diagnose is clinical, because I'm always showing up neg. Only original infection 10 yrs ago appeared positive in lab tests.
My hands were stuck like a muscle cramp. Could not grip without pain, stiffness.
It was a strong enough symptom that started me feeling that lyme COULD come back, reoccur.

yes, I had burning before treatment. When I had my relapse in 2000, one morning I woke up feeling like a human torch. It was agony for weeks. I could only sleep on the floor as the heat from the mattress and bedclothes was unbearable. I could not wear clothes but tiny shorts. I could not go outside for months because of the sun. For years I went 'commando" no underwear, the elastic was too much. I wear undies now but the "girls" are still hanging free as a bra is way too painful. Oh well. It has gotten somewhat better although herxes can be nasty to me. Some days I have to stay indoors because the sun burns me badly with the nerve pain. I think I need to treat myself for Bart and babs. Two months ago I started Zith and the burning was gone for a month. It was delicious. Its back now, but I have hope that some other treatment may stop it.
