One of my docs, not my primary LLMD, wants me to get Cnadida albicans testing at Immunosciences lab. The test is pricey.

I am currenly on difucan and this doc is aware of that. I know diflucan kills candida albicans.I did question the use of his test, at this time and was told there are other strains of candida the test can find that the diflucan won't kill.

But here's the deal... the test checked on the order form is for Candida albicans.

I don't have money to waste.....am I missing somehing here? I don't want to question him again but it sems like this is a mistake.

Does anyone know if this test might show anythng while on diflucn?

I have called the lab and they won't advise me. They said call the doctor.

I will end up calling the doc if necessary, but I am trying to avoid being a pest. I have doubts that the correct test is being done at this time.

AM I missing somethig?

Have you been to the website?

Hubby has had numerous different G.I. tests and immune system tests done at this lab before.

It is possible that the doc is ordering a Candida panel -- is there a test code on the order form.

Look up candida and click on test no. 72 -- probably what the doc ordered or meant to order.

P.S. Don't know how much of a problem you think Candida is for you, but if I remember correctly Dr B. told hubby that he didn't put much faith in antibody tests for candida. A PCR test would show infection in the bloodstream which would of course be a very serious problem.

Hi Robi,

I have heard that tests for candida are just not 100% reliable, and the most reliable thing to do is to take some anti-fungal treatment as well as the diet and see if things improve and/or if there is die-off.

My LLMD once mentioned a test for candida antibodies, kind of in passing. I didn't follow it up because I started a natural treatment for it.

You ask a good question, though. I wonder if it works like Lyme antibodies and abx?

I would try some of the natural treatments and see if you notice a change.

I am doing a few of the natural treatments including biopure garlic. Also on diflucan and did some nystatin.

My doctor determined yeast issues by a "high resolution blood morphology" test. I have white and black yeast in my bloodstream which is a dangerous condition.

In January, I tried Diflucan for the obvious vaginal infection (this was prior to testing) and the joint pain went wild. I could not take it and had to stop. Since I have used Diflucan many times in my past without a problem, I feel the pain was the toxins released from killing yeast in my joints. If I am right, then once the yeast is killed, maybe I will be well. I hope, I hope!

Even when the doctor tried to kill the yeast by IV of dioxychlor, my reaction was too severe. He decided to go after my heavy metals first but before that even, he has (for 4 weeks) been giving me IV pushes of glutathione and lipospril (supports my liver)

When you take diflucan, do you experience any herx reaction?

I hope your yeast is not systemic. Evidently, this is a very bad thing to have.
