Anybody taken Cortisol to support their adrenals then notice after a few months of feeling good that their illness or symptoms seem to be getting worse?
What are most LLMD position on taking cortisol to support adrenals?

Yes, LLMD was cool with it & said it was a "physiologic" dose so not to worry. It helped with my fluid issues & gave me a boost in energy.
I took up to 20mgs per day w/out sxs.

fwiw: while i haven't done this, i did see a yahoo support group devoted soley to cortisol, a group whose name escapes me. it looked to me like it would be worthwhile exploring.

My LLMD prescribed cortisol for me. I've been taking it for 3 yrs now. It eased the pain for me. I take 10 mg a day.

Cortisol, being a steroid, can relieve symptoms by suppressing the immune system. Even though 5 mg sounds like a low dose, when infected with Lyme we have to be especially careful to not inhibit our immune systems.
A possible explanation for why you initially felt better and now worse: the 5 mg suppressed your immune system enough to let the bacteria multiply more, and now you are feeling the effect of the greater bacterial load.
I ran into a similar situation with florinef another adrenal hormone supplement that I took before learning of the infection. I kept needing higher and higher doses to reduce symptoms, without knowing it may have been making the infection worse.
I think the bottom line is to tread very carefully with all steroids.
