Is the ELISA test accurate? If I have LYME, I've had it for years and it's mimicing neuromuscular disease and heart-related autonomic dysfunction.

I am waiting until I finish steroids to send a blood sample to Igenex. In the meantime, my doctor ordered an ELISA here (in a lab that he has found to be unreliable) and it was negative.

His thinking that in the off chance it will be positive despite prednisone and despite the lab's innaccuracy, he will start abx right away.

It was negative. Have to wait now for Igenex. How accurate are the ELISAs to begin with? Is it possible to have chronic Lyme with a negative ELISA?

thanks

ELISA isn't accurate or specific. Sounds like your doctor knows that, and is going about things the right way. Also, autonomic denervation and lyme are closely related. Many develop "POTS" as a result. Anyway, the igenex wb is a good starting point.
