Does anyone know if lymes causes you to be dehydrated? I don't know if my meds cause it or if it is from lymes.

No,

Lyme disease alone shouldn't cause you to be dehydrated. If you are having severe diarrhea from antibiotics, you may become dehydrated and have electrolyte imbalance if you are not taking in adequate fluids. Some medications such as diuretics may make you dehydrated, without adequate intake.

Purified water is highly recommended. Try to stay away from sugary juices, soda, and caffeine.

If you don't like plain water, you can add some lemon to it or try one of the crystal light drink mixes that are low in sugar and have pretty good flavor.

Do you have c. diff or problems with diarrhea?

Hi Sick,

I know for me, in the beginning of my treatment and before I was treated, I had terribly thrist all the time. I drank gallons of water. I don't know if thats what your talking about. But I had that, that symptom has mostly gone away now. Sometimes I wish I had it back. I can't seem to get down the water I should be drinking. [Smile]

Yes It can ! I've had a severe problem with this for 3 years now. Many dr.s and many tests.
It can cause dizziness and a rapid heart rate when standing along with other symptoms.

hi

People with POTS often have trouble with dehydration. Is your lyme causing POTS?

I believe the answer is yes.

I think Bb robs us of so much.

Check out a post from the last day or 2 on Balancing Electrolytes.

One of my ll Dr's said this is a necessity. Although they talked about Elytes sp? as a good brand. But I can only find it for horses?

Anyone know what I am really looking for?

Thanks lyme x 9

YES!

This is how I crashed at the very beginning. My ehrlichia was way out of control and killing me.

I had EBV, mono, my lymph glands were huge.
Dehydration to the 9th degree. My regular doctor (in the beginning) kept saying your a little bit dehyrated!
UNderstatement! I got so dry that every orafice burned! I kept dringking as much water as possible. (I was drinking 6 gallons a day.) Fortunately, I told this first doctor that I could not wait for test results, I need to start doxy right away. So I got it. Good thing.
I was positive lyme with lab corp.

Once everything was under control I seeked out a LLMD and it went from there.

Are you under a doctor's care for your lyme?
Hopefully a LLMD.
Are you having your cbc and medabolic blood panel done regularly? Your dehydration should show up on your blood panel.

Add electrol lites to your water.
