Ok, I started back on my magnesium yesterday (I take Calm). Anyway yesterday afternoon I started to get bad chills, aches, etc. I still have that today.

Could that be from Magnesium?

I recently upped my magnesium to 1000mg per day to help with leg cramps. Doc said I could take it with Nutrient 500(multi) and Esterol (Vit C), but all that didn't seem to sit well with me. Instead of boosting me- I would feel washed out.

Anyway-I now take the mag by itself at lunchtime. It has helped with cramps too.

My feelings of wellness and illness fluctuate from day to day, and sometimes from hour to hour. Hard to sort out what effects what.

Bottom line for me-I have never associated feeling bad with magnesium intake-until I took it with other supplements. By itself I seem to handle it better and it helps.

I just asked Marnie a few days ago if it was possible to herx on Magnesium, this is her reply.

"Yes a herx is a real possiblity. Some even herx when they do the epsom salt+baking soda baths."

I also herxed on Calm when I first started it. Call if a herx or call it a reaction, which ever makes you comfortable.....but something happened that fit the definition of a herx reaction.

I think I herxed on Mag at first too. I have now been taking it for months and I have to say, things were so messed up for me that before Mag, this is a little gross, but I did not sometimes go Number 2 for 4 days at a time. Now, I am completely regular and I believe it has helped the twitching alot.

hi Nal,
Glad you are starting to feel better.

I had a hard time when I switched from Magnesium glycinate to Magnesuim taurate.

I called my LLMD's office and was told if you are Mg+ deficient, adding Mg+ will stimulate the immune system to respond, and you get a herx cuz your immune system is killing more lyme and more die-off.

I had to start with a low dose of magnesium with both the glycinate and taurate , and increase my dose slowy.

I had been taking Mg glycinate for a while then my LLMD said taurate helps not only mucle function, but also brain function.

My mg levels came back normal though. Does that mean I don't need it?
