I really don't mind the picc line itself in my arm, but the taped surroundage is driving me MAD!!

I'm celtic/Irish skinned and whatever the patch or tape I use makes my skin scream. Nurse was able to cut off the rough edges of the bandage but my skin underneath the dressing is irritated and itchy, w/pain. I'm always fussing with it.

If it's not the tape/cover/scratch/burn issue, it's the feed lines that cut into my skin. I tried to wrap the IV extension around my arm so I could contain it with a scissored sock, but both the extension and ports hit at the same point in my arm.

sorry to be whining.......I know the IV is helping me, but someone has to come up with a new system for inducement and wrappage.

Nurse gave me paper vs. plastic overlay last week, but not much better.

If the manufacturers of these sealing/delivery systems actually had to wear them, I'll bet we would have a better product. [Frown]

Itchy and scratchy and annoyed and obsessed...me. LOL [bonk]

Hi,

When I was on a picc line last year for 5.5 months, I ended up switching from a tegaderm covering to a SorbaView 2000 covering.

The SorbaView actually better protected the picc line incision and it was more gentle on my skin. I was able to get away with not having to use any tape around the dressing site.

There is another product out there that was mentioned on Lymenet a while ago, but I do not recall what it is.

Hope this is of some help/relief for you,
Debbie
