I will be starting Mepron/Zithromax treatment today for Babs, but the IGNEX results are not back yet. Am I to assume that if I don't have Babs I will not notice any change in my symptoms. My LLMD feels the symptoms I'm having now could also be caused by Lyme. I've read in some of the posts that the herx reactions are different for Babs, how so?
I guess it's a wait and see what happens weekend?
No herx...no Babs, right?

nancy,

Actually some people have no herx on Babesia treatment but just start feeling better and their symptoms start going away.Others have really bad herxes with exacerbation of symptoms.

First time hubby treated he had the first reaction, but symptoms started coming back during months 3 and 4. Waited a year and tried retreating -- horrible herxes and had to stop after 45 days due to G.I. issues.

Trying to get G.I. issues resolved before trying again.

Good luck.

My daughter just started this treatment via a PICC line this past Wednesday. She was tring the oral prescription for Zithromax but the Lyme dr felt that it was time to start the IV. I have read that sometimes at week 4, there are possible herx reactions. We'll see---- :-) Good luck to you!

I'm just completing my 2nd month of babs treatment -- I didn't herx from it at all at first, but started feeling better almost overnight -- the improvement was dramatic. Suddenly I wasn't waking up with a migraine everyday anymore! At about week 6, I started getting a flare in babs symptoms, which I'm hoping was just a herx (not a downturn) -- I've got at least 2 more months to go with the tx. and then we'll see where to go from there --

I tested negative for babs, btw, but symptoms indicated otherwise.

I am in about month 6 with babs treatment. I started herxing very hard very fast, but I think a lot of my herx symptoms were from lyme. The mepron/zith combo also works on lyme to some extent, so you may get a herx even if you don't have babs (and hopefully you don't!).

Good luck!

My daughter is in 5th week of Mep/Zith combo. She has completely lost her usual headaches, however this week she is very, very, achey...mostly her legs. Hopefully this will pass.

I always worry whether flare in symptoms are herx reations or some horrible side effect from the ABX. The whole systemic yeast problem has really got me worried. She has no visable signs of yeast problems, but her IGG,IGM and IGA blood work for this is off the charts. Really scary to me.
