Hi Everyone, Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with this? My daughter has difficulty inserting her contacts, sometimes using a half bottle of solution. Thanks!

Wearing contact lenses during Lyme Disease is not a good idea. The infections are also in the eye; the lense is affected by this and reinfection via the lenses is always a concern. I had the dry eye sense for a long time -- it finally improved once I stopped using the lenses and switched to glasses. My doctor encouraged me.
It was difficult for me to do that. I always remember my good friend who finally lost her eye to Lyme Disease. She has one glass eye today and has only 20% sight left in the other. She is legally blind.

I had to stop wearing contacts about the time I got diagnosised. My right eye would give me big problems; the contact not feeling right and always trying to pop out.
I always had a slight stigmatism in that eye. Maybe the Lyme made it worse. I think now there are special contacts made for the stigmatism but I will stick with the glasses.
Everytime I go to my eye doc he is always trying to talk me into lasik. That is the last thing I need right now.

I would love to wear contacts but can't due to dry eyes. I have tried and tried, even had my tear ducts plugged to help keep moisture in my eyes, but it wasn't enough.
I have had the contacts just fall out without even touching them maybe a half hour after putting them in, and I have had them stick to my eyeball so hard, it was impossible to get them out. Then when they get so dry you can't see right anways, and they are just plain irritating to my eye.
I would like to have contacts just for special occasions, but with what Gigi said, maybe it just isn't worth having one more problem. My mom who has recently been diagnosed with Lyme woke up one morning with a serious infection on her eyeball due to contacts.
I was planning on seeing my eye doc soon to see what is new in the world of contcts, but maybe I won't now.

I still wear my contacts. I do have to use a lot of re-wetting drops. My optometrist told me to make sure it's a good one - like Systane, and to always used the "good" solution - no WalMart - like Renu or Opti-Free. She also gave me some drops that she gets in Canada (we live on the border) that are unavailable in the US. They work very well - can't remember the name. I use them at night.
Before trying to put in her contacts, have your daugher wet the eye with solution first, if she isn't already doing that.
I do have some days when I just can't wear my contacts, but most days I wear them. I cannot stand to wear glasses for long periods of time. If they're not hurting my nose, they're hurting my ears - and I hate not having the range of vision. I wear bifocals (yes, I have bifocal contacts) and I am always tripping over my own feet when wearing them.
