Just wondering....Has anyone experienced successful recovery from chronic lyme/babesia? My daughter was first diagnosed with lyme 3 years ago with ehrlichiosis. After being on doxy for about 2 months, the dr said she was all set. Hmmm..wrong! Almost 3 yrs later, she still wasn't feeling better. We had her tested again( Igenex Lab results) and it showed chronic lyme and babesia. The lyme dr prescribed minocycline-but had to drop that- too many side effects. She is now on IV zithro and mepron- 2tsp per day. She has to be on this for 12 weeks, then I am assuming they will reassess. Just happy that insurance is covering this.... Is there any one out there who has made a successful recovery? We could really use some positive news! Thanks!

Yeah, I'm super close to remission, that is if I can find someone who can treat me if my doctor, Jemsek, can't anymore thanks to the med board.
However, I've had great success in treating this disease.
Its important to find a pattern. Everyday you should moniter your child, and take carefull notes, because unfortunatly, the leangth of time one is one antibiotics doesn't really matter as much as whether or not the antibiotics you're taking make a difference in a way you can judge to be cause and effect.
So, if we can assume your daughter has Lyme, and she prolly does, then the best way to get your child healthy is to find a pattern.
Also, finding a pattern isn't very easy. It took me 3 months before I had a clear pattern. Guess and check ins't the quickest method, but it works.

Success story is for me a relative term...
If it were not for some divine intervention I would not have found out what was killing me...
If I had not found ANN OH...I would surely have died...
From this disease or my own hand...
So...YES I consider myself a success story...

hi lymemom53
I am sorry to hear about your daughter.
For babs what turned me around is adding arteminisin to the bab mepron brew. You might want to ask you doc about the art.
There are many positive stories of people getting better through treament.
Hang in there

lymemom53,
First, I'm really sorry this is happening to your daughter and to your family.
I wanted to echo what lymescience said about keeping good records of symptoms. There's actually an excellent chart y ou can print here:
This has helped me see patterns of symptoms, reactions to various drugs and treatments, herxes and general overall improvement.

I'm symptom-free for both babesia and bartonella. The Lyme still makes a mild comeback if I go off maintenance abx, but it's not over the top--you see it coming. The bart was treated with rifampin, ketek, vinpocetine, and liver support. The babs seems to have gone down thanks to primaquine and chloroquine. My Lyme maintenance abx are ketek and omnicef, and I did a few months of pulsed flagyl way back when.
