ok, i'm serious now.

i have been taking my blood pressure lately and yes, it is low. today it was 90 over 79, in the morning when i get up it runs around 80 something over 70 something, and has gotten as low as 76 over 68 with a heart rate of 66.

my doc had me on high blood pressure meds when i was working because i would get so upset. one day it was 157 over 135 with a heart rate of 123. my flight surgeon sent me to the doc and i had to stay there until i calmed down. he called it "ballooning" blood pressure and told me to retire before i had a major heart attack.

so since i've gotten lyme tho, it has gotten, to me, dangeously low.

my question is: can you stop taking blood pressure meds? i was told that once you start them, you're on them for life.

but what if they are causing or contributing to this low blood pressure and feeling of extreme fatigue?

Hi Genevieve,

You need to see the doctor who prescribed that medication for you. Your dosage can be definitely adjusted but only your doctor can determine by how much, if you need to change medications, or if you can stop taking them all together.

There also are natural means by which blood pressure can be controlled. Again, considering we're talking blood pressure here, you need to also discuss that with your physician. [Big Grin]

You should NOT stop any medication without the advice of our physician.

I had fluctuations in my blood pressure; the doc put me on a new med which gave me horrible side effects. I then went back on the old med and I am remaining stable. You just never know.

It depends on the medicine and the amount. You should talk with your doctor about it. Most doctors will ween you off by lowering the dosages over time.
