How closely are Mycoplasma fermentes and Bb related? If one has LD, does he also usually have a Mycoplasma infection also?

Simple explanation, please! [Roll Eyes]

Thank you.

My LLMD explained it to me as Mycoplasma is something that nearly everyone has in their systems but when a person is immune-compromised, as in Lyme Disease or AIDS, then they start expressing the symptoms of it.

He suspects this of me because of my severe fatigue.

Hope this helps.

The genus Mycoplasma, which comprises more than 180 wall-less species that represent the smallest self-replicating life forms on earth and phyogenetically are related to gram-positive eubacteria (28, 29).

Mycoplasma is a genus of cell wall-less sterol-requiring, catalase-negative pathogens commonly found in the respiratory and urogenital tracts of man and other animals.

The above website will shock you to death!!!

Bb needs sterols and is also catalase negative.

Several forms of mycoplasma do NOT have a tyrB gene (tryrosine transporter)...which is similar to Bb. I can't find this same link with mycoplasma fermentas.

I am not sure that anyone can say just how common Mycoplasma is because, like Lyme, the tests just aren't good enough to find it.

That is my opinion.

Many think Mycoplasma is the key factor involved in Gulf War Syndrome.
